4-H Congress First Timer!
On July 16-19, Andrew Martin, a first-year delegate at 4-H Congress represented Anson County 4-H at NC 4-H Congress. Andrew is the son of Wesley and Carrissima Martin. NC 4-H Congress is a four day event spent in Raleigh where 4-H’ers across the state gather to improve their knowledge of current events through educational experiences such as speakers, discussion groups, workshops, etc. Delegates also participate in the democratic process through campaigning for and electing state 4-H officers and get to socialize and enjoy their time in Raleigh. Andrew represented Anson County well!

 

4-H Summer Day Camp’s Anson Ag Adventures.
4-H Summer Day Camps are great way to learn, have fun, and make new friends while being introduced to the core values of 4-H. This year’s camp theme was “Anson Ag Adventures” and campers were able to learn about a variety of ag related topics through local partnerships with Anson Cooperative Extension, Anson High School, Brown Creek Creamery, Brown Creek Soil and Water, Hampton B. Allen Library, Jim Little, Little’s Park, Mills Bottom Farms, and Robbie Harrington. Stay on the lookout for 4-H Summer Day Camps next summer!

 

Anson County 4-H’er Attends NCACC Youth Voice 2022.
First time delegate, Jahzaria Underwood represented Anson County and Anson County 4-H at the Youth Voice 2022 event on August 12-13 in Concord. Jahzaria spent Friday in a “Real Colors” workshop and got to meet other 4-H’ers across the state. Saturday, Jahzaria had breakfast with County Commissioners from Anson and then learned about strategy and leadership from keynote speaker Dr. Peter Cressy. She also participated in a budgeting exercise focused on local government fund allocation and lastly sat in on the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners business meeting. Thank you NCACC for this amazing event!

 
Anson County 4-H Livestock Draws a Crowd.

The Anson Heifer Show was hosted in Ansonville, NC and included 24 youth from Anson and seven surrounding counties. These youth brought with them more than 30 beef heifers to compete in the showmanship and breed classes!
 

Anson Youth Leaders Academy and Anson County 4-H Partnership Underway!

On Thursday, September 1, the Anson Youth Leaders Academy (AYLA) of The Caraway Foundation hosted their swearing in ceremony where they inducted their newest members. Anson County 4-H is extremely excited to be partnering with AYLA and The Caraway Foundation as they prepare youth in becoming the very best leaders in their homes, schools, communities. Family Fall Fest

Family Fall Fest was hosted in Uptown Wadesboro in the square on Friday, September 23rd. The event included fair games and prizes, a DJ, a cake walk, face painting, snow cones, popcorn, and two food vendors!  Family Fall Fest highlighted an exciting week for the N.C. Cooperative Extension Anson County Office who also hosted the Farm City Banquet and the Ag Expo & Fair.  Next years dates for Farm City Week are September 18-23, 2022.  Mark these dates because you won't want to miss!
 
 
 
National 4-H Week

National 4-H Week is a time to to highlight the remarkable 4‑H youth across our state and to showcase the incredible experiences that 4‑H offers young people.  In honor of National 4-H Week, Anson County 4-H will release a video interview of four amazing Anson County 4-H'ers highlighting their accomplishments and experiences in 4-H this year.
