Farmers, as well as commercial pesticide applicators, who apply restricted use pesticides are required to obtain continuing education credits by attending approved classes. Cooperative Extension staff across the state offer these classes, which cover topics such as pesticide safety and proper usage. A pesticide safety class was held on September 21st for farmers. Thus far in 2022 Camden Extension has met local needs by offering 9 classes which provided 18 hours of continuing education credits that reached 325 pesticide applicators.

More In My Basket at the Senior Center
As food costs rise many Americans find themselves struggling to make ends meet. North Carolina State University in partnership with N.C. Cooperative Extension has developed the program More In My Basket (MIMB) which helps reduce food insecurity by connecting North Carolina residents to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). To educate more citizens about their eligibility for benefits, how to cut food costs, and how to create a food budget. Educational classes are held monthly at the Camden Center for Active Adults. This month 14 participants learned about stretching their food dollars by planning meals and tasted a delicious 3-Bean Salad.
