As the temperatures are starting to drop, it is once again time to start thinking about our friends and neighbors that struggle this time of year. McDowell 4-H along with McDowell Access to Care and Health is conducting our 3rd annual Share the Warmth drive. We are asking for donations of new or lightly used items of all sizes.
Items can be dropped off at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, McDowell County Center at 60 East Court St Marion on the second floor.

Join us to learn and have input on this alliance for 2023. The NC Farmers of the Foothills will be meeting on Monday, December 12, 6 p.m., at the McDowell County Senior Center, 100 Spaulding Road, Marion. Dinner will be served.
Are you interested in starting your own farming operation, or are you new to farming? Want to sharpen your knowledge and skills? If so, the Small Farm Boot Camp may be for you.
You may take one, two, or all modules, but you must register.
The Extension Gardener classes are open to anyone wanting to learn more about good gardening practices based on research-based information. Anyone can attend these classes. The classes will be taught weekly on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. starting February 16.

McDowell 4-H Young Guns Compete at State Tournament
After being delayed 6 weeks due to Hurricane Ian, McDowell 4-H competed in the NC 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament held November 12 at Millstone 4-H Camp and Dewitt’s Shooting Range in Ellerbe.

The backbone of 4-H are our volunteers. Have you ever considered sharing your talents and interests with the next generation? We are looking to start new 4-H Clubs in McDowell but we need adult volunteers to make this happen.
Feisty 4-H Club Looking for New Members
Feisty 4-H Club is looking to expand and add new members this year. This club meets once a month on Monday evening. This club is open to youth 5-18. This is a general-purpose club with no set program area.
NC State University and N.C. A&T State University work in tandem, along with federal, state and local governments, to form a strategic partnership called N.C. Cooperative Extension.
