Extension News Currituck County

February 2023
From the Director

I am amazed at how quickly we are progressing through 2023! Perhaps it is the flurry of activity and variety of opportunities staff at NC Cooperative Extension in Currituck offered in January. We enjoyed everything from a winter plant sale to communications, cooking and coding classes for youth; as well as winter farm production meetings, nutrition and cooking classes and more! In fact, over 40 different classes were offered to Currituck citizens in the month of January.

I'd say that we are off to a great start! And while it may now be February, it sure has felt like spring. All the rain and warmth has inspired our folks to plan and publish classes to help you get ready for that upcoming spring season. You can read more about all we have to offer in the articles and links below.

Farmers, be sure to take note of the upcoming corn growers referendum being held on March 14. This voluntary assessment will endow a corn specialist position at NC State in perpetuity. Voting will take place here at the Extension Center.
