Time to Sign Up for Lambs
If you are interested in raising and showing a lamb this year, we are taking sign ups now.  We will receive lambs around the first week of June. A few things to know:
  • You raise your lamb at home and must have a dry, covered area to house them
  • Our raising and show season lasts from June until September - October
  • Our club has the opportunity to show 4-6 times during the year
  • A deposit of $100 will reserve your space and covers your lamb, halter and first bag of feed
  • We will meet every other week during the summer at the Macon County Fairgrounds
  • Expect to return your lamb at the end of the show season

For more information, please call Joe Deal or Tammara Talley at 349-2046

Club Corner
Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club

We will meet Tuesday March 7th at Deitz Dream Farm to check in on the new kids.  Please go on the Facebook page and confirm that you are coming so that we can designate you a time.  There is not enough room in the barn with the baby pens for everyone to come at once.
Macon Archers

This is the last month we will shoot inside. In April, we will move back outside to our 4-H range. You can now choose one of two nights to shoot: Tuesdays at 5:30 or Thursdays.  All of our new incoming shooters will shoot together on Tuesdays.  Please let Tammara or Coach Brett know if you would like to change from the Thursday group to Tuesdays.  We will be ordering t-shirts this spring, please watch for a sign up sheet during practice. You will have multiple chances to sign up.
Macon Sharp Shooters

This is also the last month that rifle will practice inside.  We will return to Moss Knob range in April.  In March, we will shoot at the Cooperative Extension Office conference room on Tuesday March 6th and 20th at 5:30pm.
Macon Hoofprints

Hoofprints will meet at the fairgrounds on Tuesday March 7th at 3:30pm to plan the upcoming year.  Calling all young riders, come join us to learn about the science and wonder that is wrapped up in a horse. If you want more information about this group, please give Tammara a call at 349-2226.

Budding Chefs and Top Chefs

Spring helps us remember to focus on our health and energy with good food and movement.  This month we will make our own homemade, customized granola and smoothies along with discussing healthy eating

Sassy Stitchers

The first of this year has been focused on sewing clothes - hats, mittens and ponchos.  Our club will have a fashion show at Cowee Quilt and Fiber Celebration on May 6th.  Mark your calendars.  This month we will meet on Thursday March 23rd and 30th.

WHEP
(Wildlife Habitat Education Program)

Are you interested in forest, fish and wildlife?  This may be a group you want to check out.  Our WHEP group is exploring different species of wildlife and how they work with their habitat to survive.   In February, we made bluebird houses and learned to id trees by their bark.  This month we will meet on Tuesday March 14th and 28th.

Macon 4-H Beekeepers

We have a great new group of beekeepers starting the 2023 year.  In February, we painted our new hives to prepare for the year.  This month we will meet on Wednesday March 8th and 22nd at 5:30pm at the Macon County Cooperative Extension meeting room.
