Spring is in the Air!

Winter Enrichment.

On Saturday, January 14th, Union County hosted the 2023 South Central District’s annual Winter Enrichment.  Jahzaria Underwood and Andrew Martin were teens representing Anson County.  Winter Enrichment hosted in the South Central District consists of 19 counties and is open to teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18.  This is a teen leadership opportunity for teens as they participate in a business meeting, workshops, cultural experiences, and other fun, engaging activities.  Winter Enrichment ended with a competitive game of bowling.

 

4-H Volunteer Leaders Conference

On Friday, February 3rd through Saturday, February 4th, 4-H volunteers from across the state gathered in Durham, NC for the Annual Volunteer Leaders Conference where volunteers have the opportunity to learn at workshops, share ideas, and be recognized for the efforts toward 4-H programming. Throughout the conference, volunteers attended workshops on youth development, 4-H curriculum and much more.  Anson County Volunteer Leaders who attended in photo at left were Hannah Dunlap, Addie Richardson, Ashley Cole, and Betty Garris.  

 
 
On Tuesday, February 28th, Anson County 4-H hosted its annual 4-H Achievement Night and Volunteer Leaders Appreciation Ceremony. The purpose of the event is to recognize Anson County 4-H’ers for their accomplishments from the previous year as well as recognize the 4-H Volunteer Leaders and 4-H supporters who have given their time and efforts to assist with 4-H programs.
 
 

Teen Retreat.
On Saturday, March 4 the South Central District hosted the 2023 Teen Retreat at Camp Millstone in Ellerbe, NC. Anson County was represented by first timers Julius Collins, Andrew Martin, Jaylen Maye, Ky’Lah Simons, and Jahzaria Underwood. Teen Retreat was a jam-packed weekend that included a host of different workshops and camp games as well as district officer campaigns/elections, a dance, community service, and the opportunity to meet other 4-H’ers across the South-Central District.

 

Clover Crawl.
The 4-H Clover Crawl 2023 event was hosted on Friday, March 10th at South Piedmont Community College Lockhart Taylor Center. This was the first Clover Crawl since 2020 with more than 100 in attendance and this year and we raised over $9,000 for Anson County 4-H and 4-H Youth Promise. Thanks to all who came, supported and volunteered!
