Anson County 4-H has officially returned from its hiatus and has resumed 4-H Summer Camp.  Due to safety precautions, camp looks different this year but we are still excited about bringing back 4-H Summer Camp.  The first week of camp started the second week in June and ran June 8–10.  The second week of camp will begin in July and will run July 6-8 and the third week will resume the following week and will run July 13–15.  Themes for this summer include “Animal Adventures” and “Home, Health & Nutrition”.  Slots typically fill quickly but if you are interested in enrolling your youth in 4-H Summer Camp, reach out to the Anson Extension office to see if there are any available.
4-H’ers Participate in Virtual 4-H Fashion Revue and Creative Talent Programs

On Wednesday, May 19th, Mrs. Fannie Clyburn and Mrs. Jesse Blakeney sat in Mrs. Fannie’s sewing shop and admired the variety of entries they were judging.  “Excellent” and “very good!” were some of the words used to describe the entries of this year’s 4-H Fashion Revue and Creative Talent program.  Mrs. Blakeney commented that, “It is truly amazing what children can do these days” as she examined one particular entry.  Normally parents, friends and relatives attend Anson County 4-H’s annual Fashion Revue and Creative Talent show at the Anson Cooperative Extension Center where 4-H'ers model the garments they made.  This year, youth submitted videos of themselves modeling garments and the judges, Mrs. Clyburn and Mrs. Blakeney judged the garments.  Fashion Revue winners for were: Cloverbud Fashion - Zaire Smith-Maxwell. Project Record Workshop & 4-H Summer Rundown!

Putting together an awesome project record or portfolio is a yearlong process.  At the end of March, Anson County 4-H hosted a Project Record and Portfolio workshop.  We will be following up this workshop with another workshop on Tuesday, June 29th at 6 PM.  During this workshop, we will again hear from experienced 4-H club leader who will provide valuable insight on how to put together an exceptional project record or portfolio.  Additionally, we will discuss some of the things that 4-H has going on during the summer months.  Summer is typically fast paced and offers some unique experiences for 4-H’ers. There will be a few 4-H alumni to describe some of their experiences.
