Extension News Currituck County 

We have some very exciting news!! This year, we have joined forces with our friends at the Currituck County Regional Airport to offer a combined Farm Festival and Aviation Day. We've dubbed it "Currituck County Planes and Plows." 

The event will be held on Saturday, October 7 from 10-3 at the Currituck County Regional Airport. Come out and celebrate our county's rich history in agriculture and aviation. The event will feature air demonstrations, a tractor parade, live music, food trucks, games, airplane rides, displays, contests and much, much more! Master Gardener Volunteer Training

Did you know: eggplants and potatoes are part of the same family, watermelon and rhubarb are actually vegetables, tomatoes are fruit, and broccoli and cauliflower are the only vegetables that are also flowers.  Become part of our blossoming Master Gardener Volunteer group to grow your gardening knowledge!

Food Preservation Series

Since the beginning of space exploration,  dehydrated food has been a staple part of the human diet. During the 1965 Gemini mission, astronauts rehydrated freeze-dried foods like chicken soup and butterscotch pudding with a water gun.  Join part 2 of our Food Preservation Series for more out of this world information about home dehydration and pressure canning.

NC 4-H Congress

In just a few weeks, Currituck will be sending teen 4-H members to participate in NC 4-H Congress. Many youth consider this the highlight of their 4-H year. Members from across the state gather in Raleigh for four days of competitions, leadership, personal development, community service and social experiences on the campus of NC State University. Check out what fun and learning awaits our youth!
