77th Annual McDowell County Junior Livestock Show


With Summer officially here means the 77th Annual McDowell Junior Livestock show is just around the corner. This show is open to any North Carolina youth that has not surpassed their 21st birthday as of January 1st, 2023.

The 2023 Livestock Show will be held Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5 at the McDowell Agricultural Center, Inc.

Agriculture Advisory Board Meeting

The Agricultural Advisory Board will hold a meeting on July 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the N.C. Cooperative Extension's conference room, 60 E Court St., Marion, on the second floor of the McDowell County Services Building.

NC Farm & Ranch Stress Assistance Network

The NC Farm & Ranch Stress Assistance Network is an initiative in NC to support the farmers' well-being. CareNet Counseling is now able to provide an unlimited number of sessions to those who make or lose $1,000 a year in an agricultural workplace, as well as their family members.

Get Connected: Affordable Connectivity Program

You can get connected at a reduced rate if you qualify with the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). The ACP provides a monthly discount toward your internet service for eligible households. The benefit also provides a discount toward a one-time purchase of a device per household.

McDowell Center Adding Digital Literacy to Educational Programs

N.C. Cooperative Extension was awarded $1.3 million to host digital literacy and skills educational opportunities. The McDowell Center will be offering educational training to develop digital literacy in our community. We can tailor training to your needs or the needs of your organization.

July has been recognized as National Blueberry Month since 2003. Blueberries are in season right now so they are easy to come by. This small round fruit is known to be a superfood. They are packed with antioxidants, and all kinds of vitamins!
