NC 4-H Citizenship Focus
North Carolina 4-H Citizenship Focus is a two-day conference in Raleigh where delegates participate in facilitated discussions and activities related to the importance of advocacy, local government, state government, and action planning.  Anson County delegates were Julius Collins, Jahzaria Underwood, Jaylen Maye, and Jaiden Tshamanla, who are also current and former members of the Anson Youth Leaders Academy under the Caraway Foundation.  Through various conference sessions, delegates learned from leaders and other 4-H’ers from across the state.  One of the assignments for Citizenship Focus was to schedule an appointment with elected officials and so, one of the highlights of the trip was traveling to the NC Legislative Buildings and meeting with senators and representatives.  At this meeting, delegates were able to ask questions but also talk about issues that are important to them.  They even got to sit in on a house meeting.
