4-H Photo Contests Opportunities 


The original deadline for the NC 4-H Photo Contest was today, August 15, however, we can accept entries through tomorrow, August 16. There are a LOW number of entries this year, so don't let this opportunity pass you by. You must enter in 4-H Online AND email your photos to awbowman@ncsu.edu

NC 4-H Photo Contest

Submit your 4-H in Action, Nature's Beauty, and Special Effects Photographs NOW! Entries are being accepted now through August 16, 2023. There is a new adult category for 4-H in Action photos!  All youth participants that are active members in Forsyth 4-H Online will receive 4-H Scholarship Dollars!  To learn more visit: https://forsyth.cc/CES/4-H/article.aspx?NewsID=27620

  • Photographer’s Name

  • Photographer’s email address (that is checked regularly)

  • Photographer’s 4-H County of participation 4-H Age as of January 1, if adult, enter 00

  • Age Division: Junior Division (Ages 8-13) Senior Division (Ages 14-18) Adult Division (Ages 19+) Category: 4-H in Action (Only category for Adult Division), Nature’s Beauty, Special Effects

  • Title of Photograph is REQUIRED. Save it as: AgeDivision_PhotograpyCategory_FirstName_LastName_2023

  • A short sentence (10 words or less) to inform the judges about your picture’s specific details is optional.

NC 4-H Forestry Team Members: Ben, Nathan, James, and Coach Carla

The Forsyth County 4-H Forestry Team represented North Carolina at the 2023 National 4-H Forestry Invitational in West Virginia and placed fourth overall! Congratulations to Ben, Nathan, James, and Coach Carla. 

Congratulations to the Forsyth County 4-H Junior Poultry Team who placed third at the State 4-H Contest. Rachel, Caroline, John, Sarah and Coach Carla worked hard and we are proud of them! 

These six had a great four days at NC 4-H Teen Congress: Lucy, Luke, Victoria, Laurelyn, Zane, and Sarah! Laurelyn sang during the 4-H Entertains event and completed her year as the N.C. 4-H State President!

Egg-Cellent Egg & 2024 Poultry Show

Egg-Cellent Egg Contest - Entry deadline Sept. 8
Youth ages 8-18 with chickens are encouraged to participate in the Egg-cellent egg competition. Youth should:

  • Register for the competition
  • Pay a $15 registration fee (includes awards, and a t-shirt)
  • Watch the initial training, and the in-depth training (live or recorded)
  • Complete the educational, supplemental portion.
  • Submit 6 eggs for judging.
  • Watch the awards Zoom to celebrate their hard work

Important Dates
September 8 - Registration Ends
September 12 - 5:30pm - Initial Training via Zoom - Zoom link will be sent before the training
September 22 - Registration fee is due to the Hoke County Office
September 26 - Egg-citing, In Depth Egg Training- Zoom link will be sent before the training
November 7 - Eggs & supplemental portion submissions due (your county deadline may be sooner!)
November 21 at 5:30 pm - Winners announced on Zoom

North Central District 4-H Poultry Show - 2024 - Deadline Sept. 8
The 2024 North Central District 4-H Poultry Show for youth ages 5-18 is tentatively scheduled for the first Saturday in May. Youth that would like to participate should register online by September 8 and pay a $25 fee to reserve their five chicks. 

There will be a Q&A Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31. Please register to receive the Zoom  link and/or the recording at https://go.ncsu.edu/poultryshowq-a
