Homegrown | Share the Road with Farmers

Fall is finally here! Kids are back in school and combines are out in the fields harvesting this summer's work. With all of the large equipment back out there, make sure to be careful and share the roads. In North Carolina alone, there are on average 200 accidents every year with farm equipment. While slowing down to 20mph can be frustrating, it only adds 2 min/mile! This fall, let’s all get home safely. If you see a tractor, please be patient and slow down.

While fall is upon us, it's not too late to start a  garden, get the kids involved with an extra curricular 4H program, or learn a new skill in the kitchen before the holidays!  See some of the wonderful opportunities coming your way below, and stay up to date with all the latest information and upcoming events on our website and on social media at @CurrituckCES.

Establishing a Wildflower Bed

There is evidence that seagrasses are pollinated by marine invertebrates.  Some marine plants, such as eelgrass, are designed to use water to pollinate.  Sign up for our "Establishing a Wildflower Bed" class to learn how to attract pollinators to your yard.  Class starts indoors with information from starting seeds to maintaining your garden.  Then you will head outside help seed a pollinator plot.
