2023 LEE REGIONAL FAIR

Exhibit entry is open now at fairentry.com. If you would like to preview the categories by age check out this handy tool developed by Amanda Wilkins, our horticulture agent.
Bring exhibits to the LRFgrounds on September 9 and 10 from noon until 6pm
Poultry program has both static and livestock show options. The livestock show is September 15th. Static exhibits need to be brought to the fairgrounds on Sunday September 10. Please reference the LRF Exhibit Catalog for specific details.
The 4-H Flavor Fighters with be assisting Ashley Szilvay in the artisan booth for cooking demos on Wednesday September 13 from 5:00-7:00.
Magetsi, Crazy Quilters, Young Commissioners, and Al Ritmo de Mi Tierra will have have educational booth exhibits this year. If you are in one of these clubs be sure to contact your volunteer leaders and see how you can participate.
Youth volunteers are needed on Saturday and Sunday during exhibit entry times. email pkerley@ncsu.edu if you would like to help. |

2023 POULTRY PROCESSING EDUCATIONAL DEMONSTRATION

The Livestock, Family and Consumer Science, and 4-H programs teamed up to offer a comprehensive poultry program that culminates on Saturday, September 16 at 9:00 a.m. with a Poultry Processing Educational Learn by doing day. As a part of our Eggs to Legs Poultry program, 4-H families incubated broiler breed hens (donated by Pilgrim's) and successfully hatched 39 birds. The 4-Hers, ages 5 to 18, learned to show the birds last month and will compete in the Lee Regional Fair Poultry Show on September 15th at 6:00 p.m. You are invited to come observe these 4-Hers show what they have learned since picking up eggs and incubators on June 21st. You are also invited to come to 2420 Tramway Road on September 16th at 9:00 a.m. to observe a demonstration of the mobile poultry processing unit. Hands-on opportunities are reserved first for families who participated in all parts of the Eggs to Legs Program. If you are interested in also helping in a hands-on manner, please register so we know who to expect. Individuals who wish to process birds with us must arrive by 9:00 a.m. for the training session. If you want to come and observe only, you should drop by anytime between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. |

NC 4-H FORESTRY CONTEST

Registration is now open for the 2023 NC 4-H Forestry Contest. The contest will be held at Schenck Memorial Forest in Raleigh on Saturday, September 30, beginning at 10am.
You can find information on the Extension Forestry web portal or on our training site for Forestry and WHEP. Please read through the memo for small changes and updates to the contest and registration this year. Note that registration closes on September 13.
