Please login to your child's 4-HOnline account as needed and make sure their allergies, health information, who can pick them up, etc information is up-to-date! This is the information we use when your child is in our care. If you ever need this information updated as it changes, please email us so we can update 4-HOnline (unfortunately the system is set up where you cannot update it once it submitted).

County Council: for youth ages 12-18 years old as of January 1

**If your child is 12-18 as of Jan 1 and they are interested in County Council, please email Laura to get on the County Council email list for all reminders and updates for this group!

-Next County Council meetings:

-Tuesday, September 26 at 6 PM at the Extension office
-Thursday, October 5 at 5:15 PM at Tractor Supply for Paper Clover Week

PALS:
These meetings are for any parent, alumni, leader or supporter of Rowan County
4-H. If you are interested in 4-H or new to 4-H, you are invited to attend these meetings as well! Please come share your ideas for 4-H and help us find ways to support Rowan County 4-H.

4-H PORT-A PIT Fundraiser 2024

Plate sales will begin in March!
Does your child have crafts or items that they made during a 4-H club meeting, 4-H Summer Fun program, or at home over the last year? Does your child grow a garden? Does your child love taking photographs?

If so, enter items into the Exhibit Hall at the Rowan County Fair!

Items MUST be pre-registered by September 5.

All items must be dropped off at the Rowan County Fair on Sunday, September 17 from 1-5 PM.

All items must be picked up at the Rowan County Fair on Sunday, September 24 from 2-4 PM.

**There are both youth and adult categories available. Prize money available!**

Egg-Cellent Egg Contest.

4-H COMPETITIONS AT THE NC STATE FAIR

-4-H'ers can enter the following competitions:
4-H Crafts
4-H Photography
4-H Entomology

-MUST pre-register for these 4-H categories by September 15.

-Entries are due to Rowan County  4-H office by Friday, September 29 by 5 PM.

-The 4-H Agent will take all entries to Raleigh & pick them up in Raleigh to bring back to Rowan County.

-Contact the 4-H Agent to let her know you registered! She does not have access to the NC State Fair registration form.

Paper Clover Week is coming up on October 4-15! Sign up NOW to reserve a shift to work!

Please CLICK HERE to sign up to work at the 4-H Display at the Tractor Supply in Salisbury! The above link also includes an explanation of what you have to do while working the booth. It's not hard!

We like to have 4-H'ers there everyday...your family, your club, you and your 4-H friends, etc. can work a shift! 4-H'ers can earn Cloverbucks by participating! Learn more about Cloverbucks by clicking here.

100% of the donations collected benefit 4-H, with 90% of what is donated at the Salisbury store coming back to 4-H in Rowan County!

4-H Shout Outs

Congratulations to Nathan Croyle who was the Rowan County 4-H representative at the NC Association of County Commissioners YouthVoice event. This event was held on August 25-26 in Raleigh.

Rowan County 4-H had great representation at the Central Region 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament on August 19 in Ellerbe, NC. Please CLICK HERE to read all about their achievements. Best wishes to all those going on to compete at the state tournament on September 30.

Shout out to all of the Rowan County 4-H Volunteers who put their time, effort, passion, experience, and knowledge into supporting our 4-H'ers and the entire
4-H program. Our program would not be the same without you!

What is a 4-H Project?

Achievement Plan (Have your child fill out this form annually and add to it to document their 4-H experience and to get recognized at Achievement Night. This will also be helpful for 4-H awards & college scholarships in the future!)

-September 5: entry registrations due for Rowan County Fair (you may have 4-H artwork, sewing projects, baked goodes, vegetables, flowers, etc. that you can enter). Also enter any livestock you may be showing (if you are doing the 4-H broiler, layer, or dairy project, we have you registered)!

-September 8: Registration due for the 4-H Egg-Cellent Egg Contest

-September 15: Registration due for NC State Fair 4-H competitions

-September 17: Drop off registered fair entries at the Rowan County Fair from 1-5 PM

-September 18-23: Rowan County Fair

-September 18: Rowan County Fair 4-H Layer & Broiler Project Shows

-September 23: Rowan County Fair Jr. Dairy Show (where those doing the 4-H Dairy Heifer Project are showing)

-September 28-October 1: 4-H Volunteer Conference of Southern States in Georgia (for 4-H volunteers who have pre-registered)

Rowan 4-H Volunteer Reporting for 2023

If you are registered as a 4-H Volunteer in 4-HOnline it is super important that you report your hours and contacts! This greatly assists Laura with her Extension reports every year, since your hours and contacts must be reported!

Please go to go.ncsu.edu/2023monthly4hreportrowan and complete your reports. Reports are due 10 days after the end of each month (January contacts due by Feb. 10). Email reminders will be sent to those who should be completing reports. It should only take about 5 minutes!
