Wear green October 1-7, 2023 to celebrate National 4-H Week!

Tractor Supply Paper Clover Sale will be held October 4-15, 2023. Donations come directly to Alexander County 4-H and are used to send youth to camp and other state events.  

 
Alexander County 4-H Clubs

Now is a great time to get involved with 4-H Clubs in Alexander County.  Below is a list of our active clubs at this time.  If you are looking for a club and need more information please contact the 4-H Office at 828-632-3125.
Alexander County Livestock 4-H Club-meets 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center

In September the Alexander 4H Livestock Club met and took animals to the residents at The Taylorsville House. Thanks to all the members that came.

 
Alexander County 4-H Garden Club-meets 1st Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center

In September the 4H Garden Club learned about apples. They started at the seed and worked their way through the process of tree growth and fruit development. The kids also learned about different parts of an apple flower and how that flower actually turns into the apple fruit itself!  Take a look at the apple diagram below to see if you can guess the correct name for each part of the apple!! Correct answers at the bottom.

Southern Grace 4-H Club-meets 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center (They are not accepting new members at this time.)

For the September Southern Graces meeting, members were in the kitchen making cream cheese danish rolls. These were a warm, tasty treat!

 
Shockers 4-H Electric Club-meets 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center

Shockers had a program on static electricity and had fun experimenting with balloons.   Finn and Eowyn Berwick gave a report about Electric Congress and what they learned about nuclear power plants.   They also elected new officers. Join them for their next meeting and learn about energy choices.

 
Whisk it Up 4-H Cooking Club-meets 4th Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center
 
WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Education Program) - The WHEP 4-H Club met on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 for their initial meeting.  The group discussed how the WHEP competition works and what to look forward to.  If you are interested in the WHEP 4-H Club please contact DJ Salyer at dj_salyer@ncsu.edu.

ALL 4-H members and volunteers MUST be enrolled in 4-H Online to participate in any programs or clubs that are provided by Alexander County 4-H.

If you have any questions regarding enrollment or need help with enrollment please contact DJ Salyer at 828-632-3125.  Again, no child or volunteer can participate in 4-H events without being enrolled.
