Thank you 4-Hers, volunteers, parents and families for creating a positive environment for us to experience and learn.  Your positivity is super important to your friends.   The positivity effect has been documented in studies dating back to the 1970s, and its effects can be seen in everything from social interactions to physical health.  Improve the world today by sharing your smile!

Want to Learn More About Horses
Join Us for Horse Bowl

What is horse bowl?  Glad you asked...
Horse bowl is a yearly 4-H competition between different county teams to see who know the most about horses.  We prepare in November - February to compete in February.  We will learn all about horse equipment, health, breeds, horse anatomy, rider anatomy, feeds, feeding and more.  It is a fun, fast paced "jeopardy" type game.  Come check out the buzzers, how to play and what we will be doing this winter at our organizational meeting.  You do not have to own a horse to participate.
Monday November 13th at 6:00pm.

Please let Tammara know if you are interested in this year's team.

Requirements: Be at least 9 years old and have a adult partner that will attend meetings
with you.  This group meets two Wednesdays per month around 5:30.

Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club

In October, our members went to the Fiber Fair to help show fiber goats.  The show team showed many different animals from different farms and were complimented by the judge on their showmanship skills.

In November, our meeting will be at the Deitz farm on Tuesday Nov. 14th at 6:00pm. Will be doing health checks, Famacha, body scoring, worming and de-lousing the goats.   Wear closed toe shoes and warm clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.  Hopefully we should have new babies born next week and we can go over prenatal and postnatal care.  All of these management items are super important to learn if you are thinking about getting goats or already have your herd started.

Macon Archers

Our archers are amazing!!  They are tired of regular targets and have been shooting at swinging tennis balls. We are definitely sad that our days are getting shorter.

The first week of November will be our last outside practice of the year.  We will take a break from November 9th - November 30th.  We will start back inside on December 7th at 5:00pm for first year shooters and 6:00pm for more advanced shooters.

Macon Sharp Shooters

Macon Sharp Shooters will take the month of November off.  Please have fun with your families outside and practice your shooting and hunting skills every chance you get.

Top Chefs / Budding Chefs

Get ready Chefs, the holidays were made for us.  Last month we had a taste test of 7 different varieties of apples in the same day and then made apple nachos.  If you want to know what apple nachos are now - ask one of our chefs...

This month, Ms. Tonya Smith will teach us how to make pumpkin rolls for our Thanksgiving holidays.  Top Chefs will meet on Tuesday November 14th and Budding Chefs will meet on Wednesday November 15th (this is one week later than normal for Budding Chefs - both groups will meet at the Cooperative Extension office at 3:45.

Sassy Stitchers

All three of our sewing groups are working hard to create new items, learn new skills and work on their project record books.

Beginners 3:45pm Group - we will also be meeting on the first and second Thursdays at 3:45pm

Advanced Group - we will only meet one day this month on Thursday November 16th

WHEP
(Wildlife Habitat Education Program)

This past month our WHEP club had two different get togethers and did a service project.  Member made a information board about wildfire, its causes, when it is good, when it is negative and how our forest, wildlife are affected by wildfire.  Please stop by the Coopeative Extension office to see this information board this month.  We also collected South Red Oak acorns which only drop every other year.  Our group will send these acorns to the Forest Service to add to their tree nursery

In November, we will only have one meeting due to the holiday week and building the parade float - our meeting will be on Tuesday November 7th at 5:30.

Macon Beekeepers

Our group will take November off.  If you have honey or honey fundraising money to turn in, please let Tammara know.  If you need more honey - we still have some left.
