Please login to your child's 4-HOnline account as needed and make sure their allergies, health information, who can pick them up, etc information is up-to-date! This is the information we use when your child is in our care. If you ever need this information updated as it changes, please email us so we can update 4-HOnline (unfortunately the system is set up where you cannot update it once it submitted).

Upcoming Meetings

County Council: for youth ages 12-18 years old as of January 1

**If your child is 12-18 as of Jan 1 and they are interested in County Council, please email Laura to get on the County Council email list for all reminders and updates for this group!

-Next County Council meetings:

-Thursday, November 2 from 6-7:15 PM at the Extension office (in the Extension suite)
-Monday, December 18 from 6-7 PM at the Extension office



PALS:
These meetings are for any parent, alumni, leader or supporter of Rowan County
4-H. If you are interested in 4-H or new to 4-H, you are invited to attend these meetings as well! Please come share your ideas for 4-H and help us find ways to support Rowan County 4-H.

-Join us on Zoom on Monday, December 11 at 7 PM. This is an important meeting to finalize and vote on the PALS 2024 budget and officers.

Interested in sporting a Rowan County 4-H t-shirt? I have ordered a new batch of shirts and they are FOR SALE!

This year, I did the same design, but we have 2 different colored t-shirt options: GRAY and GREEN!

The Wreath & Garland Sale profits directly go to our 4-H Clubs! If you have a 4-H'er in a club, contact Mrs. Laura to get a special flyer where you can circle your 4-H club before you pass out the flyer. Work hard to raise funds for your 4-H Club!

SAVE THE DATE for Kids Voting and bring your child to have a real-life voting experience, which includes: polling booths, ballot with local candidates, and "I voted" stickers.

This is an engaging & practical citizenship experience for our young people. Tell your friends and your child's teachers! All are welcome...4-H'ers and non-4-H'ers!

4-H Outbound Exchange Programs for 2024!

Next summer, NC 4-H’ers will have the opportunity to travel abroad and experience new cultures and languages in 6 different countries through our partnership with the States’ 4-H International Exchange Programs. Apply by November 15 for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

The Hot Shots 4-H Club & Lead Drivers 4-H Club had 17 club members compete in the NC 4-H State Shooting Sports Tournament on Saturday, September 30. This competition was held in Ellerbe, NC. Contest results included:

Lead Drivers 4-H Club:
-Callie Yates: 1st in Jr. Rifle-Open sights, Individual; 3rd in Jr. Rifle-Open sights, overall; 3rd in Jr. Rifle-Telescopic
-Weston Edwards: 3rd in Jr. Shotgun, Individual
-Ollie Fortune: 3rd in Jr. Rifle-Open sights, individual

Hot Shots 4-H Club
-Carson Halpin: 2nd in Jr. Rifle-Open sights, individual; 4th place in Jr. Rifle-telescopic
Sights
-Team of Mason Gabosch, Levi Lynch & Christian Stebe: 3rd place Sr. Air Pistol

Congratulations to all the Rowan 4-H’ers who competed. We appreciate all the time and effort of our 4-H club volunteers and all the volunteers and parents who work with our 4-H shooting sports clubs. Special thanks to the NRA for a 2023 grant valued at $2,300 to support this program!

Congratulations to Talton Correll and Sarah Waller who were a part of the NC 4-H Dairy Judging team. They competed in the National 4-H Dairy Judging contest on Sunday, October 1 in Madison, Wisconsin. The team was 11th overall and Sarah was 7th high individual in the Holstein breed. They also got to experience the World Dairy Expo. A job well done!

Thanks to all those who worked during 4-H Paper Clover Week at Tractor Supply!


Congrats to Rowan 4-H'ers Barrett Devine, Talton Correll & John Tucker for their 1st place wins in the Youth Market Turkey Show held at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh in October!

4-H'ers Sarah Tucker, John Tucker, Ada Waller & Henry Waller all entered into the NC State Fair 4-H Arts & Photography competitions. They received numerous ribbons and awards! Because of their participation, Rowan 4-H was 5th place in the county 4-H sweepstakes, with 34 entries entered into this State Fair 4-H competition and thus winning $30 for our county program!

Congrats to all the Rowan 4-H'ers who showed animals at the NC State Fair!

Rowan 4-H Volunteer Reporting for 2023

If you are registered as a 4-H Volunteer in 4-HOnline it is super important that you report your hours and contacts! This greatly assists Laura with her Extension reports every year, since your hours and contacts must be reported!

Please go to go.ncsu.edu/2023monthly4hreportrowan and complete your reports. Reports are due 10 days after the end of each month (January contacts due by Feb. 10). Email reminders will be sent to those who should be completing reports. It should only take about 5 minutes!
