Goodness Grows Across Guilford

The food security team has been focusing our efforts in building community partnerships and seeing what our communities across Guilford County have to offer. We feel the electric buzz of do-ers busily working to improve their neighborhoods in various ways. The love of neighbors and friends is palpable here. We are excited to be a part of it and to grow with it.

Our focus in autumn and winter of 2023 was to find out which food- and agriculture-based organizations currently operate across the county. We witnessed the heartbeat of Guilford as some communities had already begun working toward food security practices like this Greensboro church garden, pictured to the left.

The Food Security Team attends Grassroots Leadership Academy

Hosted at the gorgeous NC A&T Farm Pavilion, the Grassroots Leadership Academy training played host to dozens of leaders across the state of North Carolina. The Guilford County Food Security Team participated in this event and learned invaluable techniques for engaging our community as we establish a food security plan by Guilford, for Guilford. We are committed to learning the best practices in reaching as many Guilford residents as is possible. Please stay tuned through spring 2024 as we begin hosting a series of "Community Conversations" that will provide opportunities to lift up Guilford residents' voices as we strive to improve the food system in our county.
