Discover exciting summer adventures for your child with Wake County 4-H at Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Camp from June 23-28, 2024!
Tailored for various age groups, all programs run concurrently, allowing families with children of different ages to participate seamlessly. Priced at $605 per camper, inclusive of amenities, and with transportation from the 4-H office, it's an affordable and convenient choice. Scholarship for High School Seniors |
|
|
In memory of the first Wake County Home Economics agent, Maude P. McInnes, the Wake County Extension and Community Association will award a (minimum $500) scholarship to an exceptional high school senior.
The following criteria will be used to select a recipient of the Maude P. McInnes Extension & Community Educational Fund:
- The applicant must be a resident of Wake County.
- The applicant must be continuing his or her education at a North Carolina college, university, community or technical school. The recipient must be a full-time student with a minimum of 12 units per semester. The applicant is required to provide the Wake County Extension and Community Association with a letter of acceptance from the school.
- The applicant should have a grade point average of 2.5 or better.
- Special consideration will be given to applicants seeking careers in family consumer science or related fields.
- Special consideration will be given to an applicant who is currently enrolled or has been enrolled in a Family Consumer Science program, Future Homemakers of America, Family Consumer Science Related Occupation Association, 4-H member, or a relative of an Extension and Community Association member.
- The applicant must attach a letter of acceptance, an official transcript in a sealed envelope signed by the school registrar, and three letters of reference.
Applications must be received by March 27, 2024. Incomplete applications or applications received after March 27, 2024 will not be eligible.

In 2023, Wake County Cooperative Extension, under the theme 'Rooted in Resilience,' demonstrated unwavering commitment to community well-being. The organization experienced financial growth, expanded its team, and received a $7.2 million commitment for food security initiatives. Youth-led efforts addressed public health concerns, and diverse summer camps nurtured resilience. Volunteers played a pivotal role, recognized for excellence, and partnerships showcased a resilient network combating food insecurity. The organization's 2023 journey reflects dedication to fostering resilience, equity, and community welfare. |
