Lake James Cleanup


N.C. Cooperative Extension-McDowell County Center’s Keep McDowell Beautiful program will be coordinating the annual Lake James Clean Up on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers with boats, canoes, and paddling kayaks will be needed to help. Volunteers are also needed to help unload boats full of trash.

Annual Spring Fling Plant Sale

The Master Gardeners of McDowell County will hold their 4th Annual Spring Fling Plant Sale on Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Historic Marion Tailgate Market, 67 West Henderson Street, Marion. Great plants & other assorted items at reasonable prices.

Scale Certification Opportunity for Market Vendors

Those that sell produce and other items by weights must have their scales certified annually. A Scale Technician from NCDA&CS will be certifying scales for 2024 on Monday, April 15 at N.C. Cooperative Extension-McDowell Center. This service is FREE!
