4-HOnline is OPEN for 2024 enrollment! If you have not enrolled your child yet, please get this done ASAP. They cannot participate in 2024 until they are enrolled.
If you ever need to update or make changes, login to 4-HOnline and try to. If you cannot, then please to submit any changes to the 4-H Agent at
laura_allen@ncsu.edu so we can update it in 4-HOnline.

County Council: for youth ages 12-18 years old as of January 1
**If your child is 12-18 as of Jan 1 and they are interested in County Council, please email Laura to get on the County Council email list
for all reminders and updates for this group!
-Next County Council meetings:
-Monday, April 22, 6-7 PM at the Extension office in the Suite A conference room.
PALS: These meetings are for any parent, alumni, leader or supporter of Rowan County
4-H. If you are interested in 4-H or new to 4-H, you are invited to attend these meetings as well! Please come share your ideas for 4-H and help us find ways to support Rowan County 4-H.
Next meeting: April 26, 2024 (briefly during
4-H Volunteer Family Social).

It's time for our major 4-H fundraiser:
Port-a-Pit!
Ways you can help:
-Sign up to contact a local business about purchasing Port-a-Pit plates! We deliver to Rowan County businesses that purchase 8+ plates!
-Help your 4-H member sell plates! Advertise via social media (videos, flyers, etc) and by visiting local businesses, family members, friends, schools, etc. to sell plates.
-Adults & responsible, independent teens: Plan to come work at the event! It takes many hands to make this happen! We need kitchen help, people putting plates together, delivery drivers, etc. If you can help, sign up here!
-INCENTIVES FOR 2024: The top 3 highest selling 4-H members will win:
-1st place seller: $50 cash
-2nd place seller: $30 cash
-3rd place seller: $20 cash

and we can get them ready for you to pick up!

SIGN UP to work the 4-H display & collect donations during the 2024 Spring Paper Clover Week at Tractor Supply in Salisbury! 100% of the donations come back to 4-H, with 90% of the donations at the Salisbury store coming back to Rowan County 4-H! These donations help provide scholarships or price
reductions to Rowan 4-H'ers attending 4-H Camp, 4-H Congress or Citizenship Focus.

Rowan County 4-H Event Grants

If your child is an active Rowan 4-H'er who is looking for financial help to attend more expensive 4-H events this summer or fall, please have your child apply!
Our 501c3, Rowan County 4-H PALS, provides merit-based grants to 4-H'ers to assist them in their 4-H participation!

4-H Shout Outs
We had 9 teen 4-H'ers attend the 4-H South Central District Teen Retreat held at Millstone 4-H Camp in early March. Two of our teens, Olivia Stirrup (district President) and Ryleigh Fulghum (district Secretary) led the event with their teammates. It was a fun-filled weekend!
Congratulations to Kyann Race and John Tucker, members of the Happy Trails 4-H Club, who competed in the NC 4-H Hippology contest. John
placed as the 4th high individual in the 8-10 year old competition.

District and State Horse Shows, you MUST submit a Horse Eligibility Card. All Horse Eligibility Cards are due to be entered by March 22, 2024 for Rowan 4-H'ers. Our Ag Future, a NC Chamber of Commerce initiative aimed at preserving North Carolina’s agricultural heritage and empowering farmers, is launching a photo contest called “Our Ag Perspective”.
This contest offers three age categories, with the first two being particularly suited for 4-H'ers. The top three photos in each category will be awarded a cash prize ($200 for first, $100 for second, and $50 for third).
The deadline for photo submissions is April 3rd.

Rowan 4-H Volunteer Reporting for 2024
If you are registered as a 4-H Volunteer in 4-HOnline it is super important that you report your hours and contacts! This greatly assists Laura with her Extension reports every year, since your hours and contacts must be reported!
Please go to go.ncsu.edu/2024monthly4hreportrowan and complete your reports. Reports are due 10 days after the end of each month (January contacts due by Feb. 10). Email reminders will be sent to those who should be completing reports. It should only take about 5 minutes! |
