"He who finds an herb has found a cure" by Michael Bassey Johnson. For April, the Pearls of Wisdom ECA volunteers learned about the culinary uses of herbs and spices and which dishes pair well with them. Club President Micki Earp discussed the benefits of using herbs and spices. "Herbs and spices can flavor our dishes instead of using an overabundance of salt, reducing our chance of chronic diseases," shares Micki. Participants were able to make and try herbed pasta soup and mixed herb seasoning. The club also discussed upcoming programs to be offered. The Pearls of Wisdom ECA Club meets on the first Monday of the month from 4 pm to 5 pm (April – October) and 3 pm to 4 pm (November – March). The next upcoming program for May will cover pickling, and members will learn about quick pickles vs. fermented pickles. Der, FCS agent, will have hands-on activity for participants to make their own pickles.
