Information Session

To help people prevent diabetes, we are starting another Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) soon. We are having several Informational Sessions May 7, 16, 20, and 22, 2024 at the Person County Office Building to learn more about the program. Cook with Ease

Join us for our monthly Lunch N’ Learn on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:00 p.m. at the Person County Office Building to learn how to “Cook with Ease”. We will discuss adaptive gadgets and gizmos, kitchen tips, trendy gadgets, helpful tools, etc. Cost is $5 and is due by May 3rd. There will also be some surprises to help celebrate our 110th Anniversary of Cooperative Extension.

Eat the Med Way

Learn more about the Mediterranean Way of eating and the simple steps you can take to improve your health. Join us on Tuesday, May 14 at 10:00am at the North Granville Senior Center in Stovall. This way of eating has been shown to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes. Call 919-693-3383 to register for this workshop.

Tips for Healthy Aging

We are all aging but how we do it is up to us. Join us for this workshop on Tuesday, May 14th at 12:00pm (EDT) where we will provide tips for healthy aging. Learn how to live a healthier lifestyle; move more; reduce salt, fat and sugar; manage chronic illnesses and give back by volunteering. Register at https://go.ncsu.edu/embracewellness

Embrace the Future of ECA

The North Central District Extension Community Association is hosting the annual ECA District Day event in Mocksville on Wednesday, May 15. We have 15 ECA members from Person County registered to attend this event. There will be workshops, a craft, guest speaker, entertainment and our annual District Cultural Arts contest.

Granville Aging With Gusto 

Aging With Gusto in Granville County is back, after more than a decade!! It is a free event scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 8:30am - 11:30am at the Granville County Senior Services building at 107 Lanier Street, Oxford. Stovall Farmers Market

Be sure to visit the Stovall Farmers Market located at the Stovall Branch Library in Granville starting Thursday, May 23 from 3:30pm - 6:30pm. There will be local produce, local vendors, food trucks, handmade crafts, and family fun. The Extension Office will be at the market with our Donation Station booth. We will be providing information on nutrition, recipes, giveaways, and much more. We will also be collecting money and/or produce to be donated to help local people in need.
