4-HOnline is OPEN for 2024 enrollment! If you have not enrolled your child yet, please get this done ASAP. They cannot participate in 2024 until they are enrolled.


If you ever need to update or make changes, login to 4-HOnline and try to. If you cannot, then please to submit any changes to the 4-H Agent at laura_allen@ncsu.edu so we can update it in 4-HOnline.

Upcoming Meetings

County Council: for youth ages 12-18 years old as of January 1

**If your child is 12-18 as of Jan 1 and they are interested in County Council, please email Laura to get on the County Council email list for all reminders and updates for this group!

-Next County Council meetings:

-Thursday, May 2 from 5:15-6:30 PM. Meet at Tractor Supply in Salisbury to collect donations for 4-H during Paper Clover Week.
-We will also meet June 10 from 1-4 PM at the Extension office (mainly to help 4-H'er Nathan Croyle prep items for his campaign for State 4-H Office), but this will also be considered a County Council meeting


PALS:
These meetings are for any parent, alumni, leader or supporter of Rowan County
4-H. If you are interested in 4-H or new to 4-H, you are invited to attend these meetings as well! Please come share your ideas for 4-H and help us find ways to support Rowan County 4-H.

All Rowan youth who are interested in possibly participating in the 4-H Poultry Judging contest, please come to this interest meeting! We will go over what the contest involves and will set future practice dates. Email laura_allen@ncsu.edu to get the Zoom link.

SIGN UP to work the 4-H display & collect donations during the 2024 Spring Paper Clover Week at Tractor Supply in Salisbury!

100% of the donations come back to 4-H, with 90% of the donations at the Salisbury store coming back to Rowan County 4-H! These donations help provide scholarships or price reductions to Rowan 4-H'ers attending 4-H Camp, 4-H Congress or Citizenship Focus.

4-H Shout Outs


On Saturday, April 13, members of the Happy Trails 4-H Club competed in the NC 4-H Horse Judging contest at the St. Andrews University Equestrian Center in Laurinburg, NC. Kyann Race was the High Point Junior Rookie Winner in the whole contest and John Tucker was 5th place in Junior Rookie. Additional participants included: Evie Harper, Vivian Harper, Darcy Overcash, Gage Majors & Asa Majors. Club leader is Maggie Boreman. Congratulations to these 4-H'ers on their learning and success! Thanks to Mrs. Maggie and all parents and volunteers for their support!

On Friday, April 19 we hosted our County Activity Day. We had 4 youth perform for 4-H Entertains and 11 youth gave 4-H Presentations. We also had lots of entries in our 4-H Expressive Arts competition. Congratulations to all of our 4-H'ers!

NC 4-H HORSE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION COMPETITION:

Contest categories & rules can be found here (use pages 147-163). If you are not a part of the Happy Trails 4-H Club, please contact the 4-H Agent for some additional information (please contact her before you enter online).

Complete the entry forms by clicking here. Due by June 1.

All of the entries MUST be brought to the 4-H Agent at the Extension office no later than 5 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024.
 
Are you interested in NC 4-H Livestock opportunities (livestock judging, skillathon, quizbowl)?

The South Central District 4-H Fall Day (Volunteer Training) will be held in ROWAN COUNTY on Saturday, November 2!

Rowan 4-H Volunteer Reporting for 2024

If you are registered as a 4-H Volunteer in 4-HOnline it is super important that you report your hours and contacts! This greatly assists Laura with her Extension reports every year, since your hours and contacts must be reported!

Please go to go.ncsu.edu/2024monthly4hreportrowan and complete your reports. Reports are due 10 days after the end of each month (January contacts due by Feb. 10). Email reminders will be sent to those who should be completing reports. It should only take about 5 minutes!
