Alexander County Center Newsletter
May 2024

NC Cooperative Extension-Alexander County was pleased to participate in the 2024 Spring Fling sponsored by Alexander County Partnership for Children.  4-H Agent DJ Salyer, Family Consumer Science Agent Der Holcomb and Horticulture Agent Cari Rosenbalm along with three amazing volunteers led an afternoon of fun for all who visited us.  Youth were able to see and pet some adorable baby chicks and then plant a sunflower seed to take home with them.  We handed out some amazing barnyard bags of goodies including a wildflower seed packet.  A huge thank you to Tammy Watts, Nicole Kane and Evelyn Starnes for volunteering.  We couldn't have done it without you!

NC Cooperative Extension-Alexander County held Wake Up to Ag for all 1st graders in Alexander County on Thursday, April 25th.  Kids were able to learn what agriculture is and how important it is to everyone.  A special thank you to the Alexander Central High School FFA Chapter for coming to help out for the day and leading the stations, all the farmers that brought animals for the kids to see and for H&H Arena for accommodating us.
