Club Corner
Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club

Our club's service project in April was to help Hot Mess Animal Rescue.  We vaccinated 32 goats, and castrated all bucks( well 1 escapee we couldn’t catch but we had fun trying too) lol!!  Next meeting at Deitz Farm May 14th.  We are going to give cdt vaccines, delouse and wellness checks.  Hot humid weather is prime time for barber pole worms so Famancha checks will be emphasized for first defense against this life threatening parasite.

Macon Archers

We will meet at the 4-H Archery Range on Thursday May 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd.  Beginners shoot from 5:00 - 6:00.  Older youth will shoot from 6:00 - 7:00pm.  If you are interested in joining archery, please call Tammara for an orientation time.
Macon Sharp Shooters

In April, we moved back outdoors to the Sheriff's Department shooting range at the top of Radio Hill Road.  We will shoot there again in May on May 11th and 25th at 9:00am.  Thank you to our 4 new coaches that went through training for certification this month: Frank Pace, Ryan McElroy, Ryan Odegaard and John Shepherd.
WHEP

While we had a great time inside this winter learning about tracks - spring is our favorite time when learning about wildlife.  In April we went on a mushroom hike with the Merritt family and learned about lots of forest fungi.  We also met Mrs. Sharon Archer who came and talked to us about wildlife rehabilitation.  This month we will go kayaking on Saturday May 11th - our rain date will be May 25th.  We will also meet on Tuesday May 21st to go fishing.
Livestock Judging Team

Our Livestock Judging Team is continuing to meet and learning about cattle, goats, sheep and pigs.  With all this knowledge, they will have lots of fields to pick from...

Macon 4-H Beekeepers

In April, we went to the bee yard and got to know our hive partners.  This month we will meet outside in the bee yard on May 8th and May 22nd at 5:30.  We are excited to report that our queens are laying eggs which makes our hives grow.  Thank you to the Macon County Beekeepers adult club for coming out and helping us learn.
