Good Afternoon Chatham County Producers,

I am thrilled to step into the role of your new Livestock agent for Chatham County. Little about me: I am a Chatham County native and grew up farming my entire life. I graduated from NC State with my bachelors in Animal Science. Before stepping into this role, I had the privilege of both farming and instructing at the college level. I have extensive background in livestock, with a focus on cattle and small ruminants.

As your Livestock Agent, I'm here to be your advocate, ally, and partner in success. Whether you are a well seasoned farmer or just starting out, I am here to help and support you in achieving your goals! Please don't hesitate to reach out--I'm here to help!

Looking forward to meeting each or you, hearing your stories, and working alongside you to ensure your success.

FREE CATTLE EAR TAGS

NC department of Agriculture is offering free EID (Electronic Identification) ear tags to the cattle producers of North Carolina. These ear tags can be used in breeding stock (replacement females, brood cows, and breeding bulls) in beef and dairy cattle. These 2 piece button style tags have the ability to be scanned with a reader for easy record keeping. Each tag has a unique ID number printed on it. At the very least these tags will give you an additional method of ID as well as enhance our ability to help trace animals in the the event of a disease outbreak. This program is very similar to the scrapie tag program that our small ruminant producers participate in.

Contact the NCDA Veterinary Division to claim your free tags.
