Walk-A-Weigh

The goal is to walk 30 minutes per day for 30 straight days during the month of June. There will be daily posts about nutrition or wellness. We are asking participants to share step counts, exercise/food pictures, recipes, articles, or motivational messages to the group. https://tinyurl.com/30for30WAW

Talk To Your Doctor

As you age, learning how to talk to your doctor is partially your responsibility. Learn how to talk with your doctor and make the most of your appointment. Get tips on choosing a doctor. Join us for this in-person workshop on Tuesday, June 4 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.. Cost is $5 and must be received at the Extension Office, Room 123 by Friday, May 31st.

Eat a Rainbow

On Tuesday, June 11 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. (EDT), join us on this virtual workshop to learn how to eat a rainbow and all of the wonderful health benefits from the different colors. Bring your lunch and learn with us during this virtual workshop! Register at go.ncsu.edu/rainbow 

Diabetes Information Sessions

A few spots are left...Join us June 13, 20, or 27 at 12:00pm to learn more about the year-long Diabetes Prevention Program scheduled to start in July and see if you are eligible and interested. We must have at least 10-12 people to offer the program. This program is for people who are pre-diabetic or determined to be “at-risk” for diabetes. Coming to an info session does not commit you to anything and you only need to come to one session. Register for an info session at go.ncsu.edu/diabetesinfo



Extension Donation Station

Be sure to visit the Stovall Farmers Market at the Stovall Library on the June 13 & June 27 (2nd & 4th Thursdays of each month) from 3:30pm - 6:30pm. We will have information on nutrition, recipes, giveaways, and much more. We will also be collecting money and/or produce to be donated to help local people in need.

Elder Abuse Prevention

The Kerr-Tar Area Agency on Aging is delighted to invite the public to participate in their Annual Region K Elder Abuse Awareness & Prevention Walk on Friday, June 14 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Masonic Home for Children at 600 College Street in Oxford.

Count Your Carbs

Many individuals are suffering from or working to prevent diabetes. The Extension Office is offering a “Count Your Carbs” workshop on Tuesday, June 18 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the North Granville Senior Center in Stovall. This workshop will provide an introduction to learning how to count your carbohydrates. Call 919-693-3383 to register for this workshop.

Eat the MedWay

Learn more about the Mediterranean Way of eating and the simple steps you can take to improve your health. Join us on Wednesday, June 26 at 10:45 a.m. at the Granville Senior Center in Oxford for the “Eat the MedWay” workshop. This way of eating has been shown to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes. Call 919-693-1930 to register for this workshop.We are all aging but how we do it is up to us.
