Don't Worry, Be Happy

During this workshop, we will talk about the science of happiness and will provide practical tips to be happier. Bring your lunch and learn and join us during this virtual workshop on Tuesday, July 9 from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00pm Register online now at go.ncsu.edu/happiness

Be MINDful of Your Health

This workshop will focus on meditation, self-care, mental-health, wellbeing and mindfulness. We will discuss the benefits, ways to incorporate it into your lifestyle and learn to accept yourself. Join us for this in-person workshop on Wednesday, July 10 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.. Cost is $5 and must be received at the Extension Office, Room 123 by Friday, July 5.

Donate Money or Produce

Be sure to visit the Stovall Farmers Market at the Stovall Library on the July 11 & July 25 (2nd & 4th Thursdays of each month) from 3:30pm - 6:30pm. We will have information on nutrition, recipes, giveaways, and much more. We will also be collecting money and/or produce to be donated to help local people in need.

Build Your Bones

Get ready to learn all about how to strengthen your bones and improve your overall bone health. Join N.C. Cooperative Extension for this 7-week life changing series starting on Tuesday, July 16 2024 - Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM EDT. We will cover topics on: osteoporosis, medications, healthy eating tips, nutrients for bone health, fall prevention, and more. Register at go.ncsu.edu/buildyourbones2024

As you age, learning how to talk to your doctor is partially your responsibility. They can only help if they have all of the information and if you follow their recommendations. Join us to learn how to "Talk to Your Doctor" on Tuesday, July 23 at 10:00am at the North Granville Senior Center in Stovall, NC. If you would like to register, please call the senior center at (919)693-3383.

Count Your Carbs

Many individuals are suffering from or working to prevent diabetes. And there are a lot of misconceptions on carbohydrates so we want to provide some information and help you learn to count carbs, watch portion sizes and learn moderation. The Extension Office is offering a “Count Your Carbs” workshop on Friday, July 26 at 10:45am at the Granville Senior Center in Oxford. Call 919-693-1930 to register for this workshop.

Our 2024 Aging with Gusto Conference in Person County is Tuesday, August 27 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and it will be FREE again this year. We hope everyone can join us to celebrate as we learn about being "Powered by Connections”. The registration brochure will be available at the Person County Extension Office, person.ces.ncsu.edu or you can register online at go.ncsu.edu/gusto when registration goes live in July.

NC ECA & NVON Conference

The Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) will have 3 members and their Liaison Extension Agent attending the National Volunteer Outreach Network (NVON) conference that the NC ECA organization is hosting this year in Asheville. It will take place in conjunction with the NC ECA Conference Sunday, July 14 - Friday, July 19. Members will attend workshops, tours, meetings, and our very own Dorothy Wagstaff will be installed as NC ECA State President.
