ALL 4-H members and volunteers MUST be enrolled in 4-H Online to participate in any programs or clubs that are provided by Alexander County 4-H.

If you have any questions regarding enrollment or need help with enrollment please contact DJ Salyer at 828-632-3125.  Again, no child or volunteer can participate in 4-H events without being enrolled.
Alexander 4-H has been very busy with summer programming.  We kicked summer off with camps in the kitchen.  The first week we held Kids in the Kitchen:  Chopped for 9-14 year olds and the second week we took younger 5-8 year olds in Snack Attack.  Participants trained the first two days of Kids in the Kitchen in preparation of a "chopped" competition on the last day.  Snack Attack combined food snacks and books to reinforce the importance of reading while developing lasting life skills.  We then turned from the kitchen and took another group of young participants on Cloverbud Discover Camp.  This group visited Grandfather Mountain, Lazy 5 Ranch, Catawba Science Center and Tuttle Educational State Forest.  Check out some of the pictures from these awesome camps!!
Eastern 4-H Center Camp

Alexander County youth had an awesome week of 4-H overnight camp on Bull's Bay in Columbia, NC.  Campers were able to experience all different activities and meet new friends.

Alexander County 4-H Garden Club
met in June to celebrate National Pollinator Month with a fun twist—bingo style! We explored how various pollinators are drawn to specific types of flowers, whether through flower shape, scent, UV markings, bloom time, and more. Afterwards, we embarked on a scavenger hunt in our community garden, searching for insects and observing which flower characteristics they were most attracted to.

July is the month for several National Days.
Here are a few of my favorites:

  • July 12th - National Cow Appreciation Day
  • July 20th - National Hot Dog Day
  • July 29th - National Chicken Wing Day
