Join us on Saturday, July 13th for the Sizzling Summer Fun Series!


On Saturday, July 13th Yancey County 4-H will be partnering with North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission for an Exploring Nature Day as part of the Sizzlin Summer Fun Series. Come out to the Burnsville Town Square on Saturday, July 13th from 10am-12pm to learn about animal identification, tracks, scat, furs and have fun while exploring nature!

4-H News: Eight Youth Participate in the West District 4-H Presentation Competition!



On Friday, June 14th, eight 4-H’ers represented Yancey County at the 2024 West District 4-H Activity Day! These youth spent many hours preparing and practicing their presentations. We are so proud of all their hard work and achievements!


Four of these 4-H’ers will be advancing to the State competition in July! Max Ballard won Bronze in Forestry & Wildlife. Cooper Ledford won Gold in Health & Fitness. Daisy Brantley won Gold in Science & Technology. Macy Carroll won Gold in Public Speaking. Hudson Hilliard won Gold in the Open Class. Jacob Ledford won Gold in Beef Outdoor Cookery. Sam Gantt won Gold in Wheels & Engines. Millie Ballard competed in the non-competitive Cloverbud category.


Congratulations to each of these youth!



4-H News: Twelve Youth Attend 4-H Camp at Betsy Jeff Penn



Twelve Yancey County 4-H'ers attended 4-H Overnight Camp at Best Jeff Penn 4-H Camp in Reidsville, NC in June. These youth spent one week canoeing, swimming, fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding and many other awesome outdoor activities.


Spaces for our 2025 summer camp will be opening soon, be sure to check upcoming newsletters for registration information and to reserve your child's space for a week full of fun they will never forget!

Several of our clubs will be having schedule changes during the summer months. See the important information below


Horse Club - No meeting in July 


Cooking Club- No meetings in June or July. Fall schedule will be communicated in August.


STEM Club - No meetings in June or July. Fall schedule will be communicated in August.


Sewing Club- No meetings in June or July. Fall schedule will be communicated in August.


Outdoor Adventures Club- No meetings in June or July. Fall schedule will be communicated in August.


Beef & Livestock Club- No meetings in June or July. Fall schedule will be communicated in August.
