Our busy summer months are drawing to a close and we are looking to Fall!
There are several new opportunities listed in this newsletter, so check those out!
Please note that fall programming will be more limited due to us packing and moving to our new office facility. We hope to be moving in November/December and will be officially operating at our new facility by January 1, 2025.

4-HOnline is OPEN for 2024 enrollment! If you have not enrolled your child yet, please get this done ASAP. They cannot participate in 2024 until they are enrolled.
If you ever need to update or make changes, login to 4-HOnline and try to. If you cannot, then please to submit any changes to the 4-H Agent at laura_allen@ncsu.edu so we can update it in 4-HOnline.

Upcoming Meetings
County Council: for youth ages 12-18 years old as of January 1
**If your child is 12-18 as of Jan 1 and they are interested in County Council, please email Laura to get on the County Council email list for all reminders and updates for this group!
-Next County Council meeting:
-Tuesday, September 10 on Zoom. Link will be sent closer to time.
PALS: These meetings are for any parent, alumni, leader or supporter of Rowan County 4-H. If you are interested in 4-H or new to 4-H, you are invited to attend these meetings as well! Please come share your ideas for 4-H and help us find ways to support Rowan County 4-H.
Next meeting: August 27, 2024 at 6:15 PM at the Extension office for annual in-person volunteer training & a meal. Volunteers: please RSVP via the link that was sent via email on July 2. It will be resent again soon.

**Please note that if you plan to participate with Rowan 4-H, please get your $15 registration fee to the Rowan County Cooperative Extension office by August 5 (or let me know if you want to use your Cloverbucks). We will send one check to Hoke County.

It's time to register your fair entries for the Rowan County Fair!
This year, all categories that Rowan 4-H uses in the 4-H Expressive Arts competition are ALSO in the fair book!

4-H Shout Outs
The following 4-H'ers attended the NC 4-H Electric Congress at Western Carolina University on July 16-18: David Croyle, Nathan Croyle, Lucas Weeder. If you are interested in this free opportunity in the future for your 11-18 year old, please contact me for more information about the 4-H Electric Program!
The following 4-H'ers attended the NC 4-H Congress on July 22-26: David Croyle, Nathan Croyle, Mason Gabosch, German Jaramillo, Emily Simon, Georgia Veleke, Emma Weeder, Lucas Weeder. They attended tours, participated in workshops, participated in the campaigning and voting process for our new state 4-H officers, met new people, had fun & more!
4-H'er Olivia Stirrup was tapped into the NC 4-H Honor Club during 4-H Congress. This is the highest honor to be bestowed upon a 4-H member in NC.
Nathan Croyle participated in the AIRE (Application, Interview, Resume, Essay) contest this summer and was then awarded a trip to the National 4-H Congress (held in Atlanta this coming November).
CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Nathan Croyle who was elected by his 4-H peers from across our state to serve as the 2024-25 North Carolina 4-H State Council President! We are so proud of him and excited to see him serve our state in the year ahead.
The following Rowan County 4-H’ers participated in 4-H Presentations at State Presentation Finals in Raleigh on July 23:
Gold: -Careers & Entrepreneurship, 8-10 year olds: Luke Allen -Horticulture Science, 8-10 year olds: Ada Waller -Safety, 8-10 year olds: Natalie Weeder -Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, 14-18 year olds: Nathan Croyle **Gold winners will receive a monetary award.
Bronze: -Open Class, 14-18 year olds: Lucas Weeder
Participation: -Livestock & Dairy Production, 14-18 year olds: Samantha Simon

Congratulations to Addie Webster who applied for and received a $200 scholarship from the South Central District Horse Council.
The Rowan County 4-H Poultry Judging teams competed in Raleigh on July 10.
Rowan Team A consisted of Guy Deal, Audrey Faggart, and Annalise Watts. They placed 3rd in the junior division. Guy was the 2nd high individual in the contest and Audrey was the 3rd high individual.
Rowan Team B consisted of Aiden Best, Libi Henry, and Breighlyn Miller. They competed in the junior division.
Aubri Austin competed as an individual in the senior division.

Do you have Medicaid? If so, your policy most likely gives a $10-$75 voucher to be used towards youth activities, and 4-H should qualify! Please check into this for your family!

Rowan 4-H Volunteer Reporting for 2024
If you are registered as a 4-H Volunteer in 4-HOnline it is super important that you report your hours and contacts! This greatly assists Laura with her Extension reports every year, since your hours and contacts must be reported!
Please go to go.ncsu.edu/2024monthly4hreportrowan and complete your reports. Reports are due 10 days after the end of each month (January contacts due by Feb. 10). Email reminders will be sent to those who should be completing reports. It should only take about 5 minutes!
