School Garden

Around February 2021, the School Garden at Dana Elementary was neglected after a couple of years. The garden needed an upheaval. Ty Ancrum, EFENP Program Assistant, and Donna Dixon, Agricultural Engineering Teacher, had several talks about reviving the garden and possibly incorporating produce from the garden to incorporate in nutrition classes.
Free Pesticide Collection Day-Henderson County

2021 4-H Agriculture Day Camp Recap!

At this year’s 4-H Agriculture Day Camp, Henderson County youth learned about local agriculture through guest speakers and many interactive activities. Each day focused on a different agricultural theme, from ecosystems to careers.

Rain Related Landscape Problems

Over the last few years of heavy rain, we get a lot of questions
about
high water tables, natural ‘springs’ or ‘seeps’ and sinkholes. Home gardeners call about wet boggy areas in their lawns. They call about basements that flood. We get question about mold also.

It's Apple Harvest Time!
The sultry August days have just started, and autumn is still a way off, however, apple picking in Henderson County is underway. Early varieties like Ginger Gold are beginning to get ripe. Soon, there will be Galas and Honeycrisps and at some point, your favorite apple will be mature.

A pressure canner is a very important piece of equipment when it comes to home food preservation. Making sure it is working properly is a precaution that should be taken seriously.
