Looking to the Future for Yancey County 4-H 


During this transition, without an Agent, our 4-H clubs and planned programs will continue!

Jazlyn Swain will be the point of contact for all 4-H related questions. She can be reached at jazlyn_swain@ncsu.edu or 828-682-6186.

Club Meeting Schedules



Horse Club- Horse Club will continue to meet on the 3rd Monday of each month. The club is still accepting new members ages 8 and up.


Robotics Club- Robotics Club will continue to meet on the 1st Monday of each month. The club is still accepting new members ages 11 and up.


Lego Club - Lego Club will continue to meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. The club is still accepting new members ages 5 and up.


Longshots Shooting Sports Club - Longshots will continue to meet. Club members please check the Club App for the practice schedule.


Arts & Crafts Club - Arts & Crafts Club will continue to meet on the 2nd Monday of each month. The club is still accepting new members ages 5 and up.


Sewing Club- The fall meeting schedule is still being determined. Updates soon to follow. If anyone is interested in joining, please email jazlyn_swain@ncsu.edu


Cooking Club- Cooking Club will be taking a break until further notice  


STEM Club - STEM Club will be taking a break until further notice


Outdoor Adventures Club- Outdoor Adventures Club will be taking a break until further notice


Beef & Livestock Club- Beef & Livestock Club will be taking a break until further notice. WNC Dairy Beef Feeder Steer Project Participants will continue with program meetings.

Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser


Unfortunately, the 4-H Cornhole Fundraiser is cancelled at this time due to scheduling conflicts.

Anyone that previously registered and paid, will be notified for reimbursement. Sorry for the inconvenience!

4-H News: Youth Participate in the Yancey County Youth Garden Vegetable and Flower Show


On Saturday, August 24th, two 4-H’ers won at Yancey County's Youth Garden Vegetable and Flower Show!


The Best in Show Grand Champion was awarded to David Banks. The Best in
Show Reserve Grand Champion was awarded to Phoebe Showalter. David Banks also received the award for Largest Fruit and Vegetable. Congratulations to both of the 2024 Yancey County Garden Show Champion gardeners!


4-H News: 4-H Longshots Club competed at the West Region 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament!



On Saturday, August 10th, the Yancey County 4-H Longshots Club competed at the West Region 4-H Shooting Sports Tournament today! We are so proud of all of these youth and their hard work this season! Thank you to the NRA Foundation Grant for making this club possible and allowing us to teach more youth about marksmanship and firearm safety! This club would also not be possible without our dedicated volunteers: Mark Geouge, Shane Hilliard, Levi Johnson, Mitchell Carroll, Austin Wilson, Buddy Jeffords, Zack Ballard, Marvin Silvers, Philip Fulmer and Clay Carroll.

4-H News: Youth Participate in the Junior Beef Round-up



On Saturday, August 10th, 4-H’ers competed at the Junior Beef Round-up as part of the WNC Dairy Beef Feeder Steer Project.

Maxen Ballard won 2nd place Showmanship award. Dakota Hudgins won 3rd place in class. These youth have been preparing for the big show at the upcoming NC Mountain State Fair.


Congratulations to each of these youth for their hard work and achievements!
