Many herds and homes in WNC have been hit hard by Hurricane Helene. If you are able to assist livestock producers through housing animals or providing feed/supplies, please complete the form link below. The answers on this form will be shared with NC Cooperative Extension offices and NC Department of Ag & Consumer Services.
We are working with local authorities to determine routes for moving livestock within and from the area. PLEASE DO NOT ACT ON YOUR OWN! Many roads are not safe or passable and unauthorized access will slow down rescue and restoration efforts. Thank you for your willingness to help and, if needed, you will be contacted by someone from NCSU or NCDA.
Another way to help our neighbors to the west is the Alexander County Cattlemen's Association is partnering with Johnson's Milling & Feed, Inc. to collect farm supplies to send to areas with the most need. Items in most demand are: square bales of hay (easier to haul on utv's), solar chargers, step in post, polywire and other temporary fencing supplies. Johnson's Milling & Feed, Inc. will be collecting these items. They are also offering discounts on these items if you wish to purchase these items there to send. If you prefer to donate cash, it will be sent to the Baptist on Missions group where 100% of the money goes to those in need. We are coordinating directly with Livestock Agents and NC Farm Bureau representatives to ensure these items go those most in need. If you have any questions please contact Bryant Chapman, Eugene White or Ethan Sprinkle. We appreciate any and all donations so that we can help those who have been devastated by this storm.
Make checks payable to “Baptist on Mission” and send to PO Box 1107, Cary NC 27512 and in the memo put Hurricane Helene Response.
