ALL 4-H members and volunteers MUST be enrolled in 4-H Online to participate in any programs or clubs that are provided by Alexander County 4-H.

If you have any questions regarding enrollment or need help with enrollment please contact DJ Salyer at 828-632-3125.  Again, no child or volunteer can participate in 4-H events without being enrolled.
 
Project Record Books

It's time to start getting your 4-H Project Record Books completed!!!

What is a 4-H Project Record Book?

A 4-H project record book is a compilation of all of a
4-Her's work in a given year regarding a specific topic.



Who does a 4-H Project Record Book?

All 4-Her's are welcome and encouraged to do this!!! The age divisions for competition are    5-7, 8-10,11-12,13-15, and 16-18.

Project books are required to go to some events like the annual Electric Congress.

Alexander 4-H Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Below are the results from this year's competition:
  • 1st place- Lucas Hardin
  • 2nd place- Finn Berwick
  • 3rd place- Colton Mecimore

Winners can pick up their prize at the 4-H Center.

Apple Peeling Contest Held at Apple Festival


Alexander 4-H held the
Apple Peeling Contest at the Taylorsville Apple Festival on October 19, 2024.  A special thanks to Shockers 4-H Club for coming and assisting with the contest.  There were several competitors and the longest peel was 98"!!

Below are the final results:

  • Jeff Webb won the men's division with 98"
  • Pattsy Robinson won the women's division with 88"
  • Hunter Sherman won the youth division with 24"

All of the winners were given a gift certificate for a bag of apples of their choosing from Deal Orchards.
Alexander County 4-H Clubs
Alexander County Livestock 4-H Club  meets 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center.
The Alexander County Livestock 4-H Club did not met in October to decorated pumpkins for the Alexander 4-H Pumpkin Contest.  Their next meeting will be held  Monday, November at the Alexander County Service Center at 7 p.m.  New members are welcome to attend.
 
Alexander County 4-H Garden Club meets 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center


In October the 4H Garden Club had a BLAST making their own pumpkin floral arrangements! Each arrangement looked so beautiful and unique A big THANK YOU to our wonderful Master Gardener interns who helped out, y'all rock!


The Alexander 4-H Garden Club will be taking the months of November, December and January off.  The next club meeting will be held in February.  If you have any questions about 4-H Garden Club, please give me a call (828-632-4451).

 
Southern Grace 4-H Club  meets 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center (They are not accepting new members at this time.)
The next meeting will be held Thursday, November 21 at 5:00 p.m.  
 
Shockers 4-H Electric Club meets 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center   New members are welcome!
The Shockers Electrical Club met in October.  The elected new officers for the next year.  The club discussed the importance of voting and researching candidates as part of their citizenship portion of the meeting.  The program focused on the use of a combination stud finder to find structural members of a wall.  The tool also allowed them to find the electrical wiring hiding behind the finished wall.  The Shockers were able to represent Alexander County 4-H Apple Peeling Contest at the Apple Festival.  The next meeting will be moved to Tuesday, November 26 instead of November 19th.  New members are welcome to attend!
Whisk it Up 4-H Cooking Club meets 4th Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m. Location:  Alexander County Service Center.
 
WHEP (Wildlife Habitat Education Program)   2024 Intro Meeting will be held November 6, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the Alexander County Service Center.
 
National Days in November:

  • November  8th - National STEM Day
  • November 11th - Veterans Day (county offices will be closed)
  • November 28th - Thanksgiving Day (county offices will be closed November 28 & 29)
