Kim Terrell, Clay County FCS agent, spent time at our Senior Center this week teaching them how to prepare and preserve delicious apple pie filling, just in time for the holidays. Participants learned how to determine
pounds of apples needed, the importance of using Clear Jel, a specialized starch specifically made for pie fillings, and safe water bath canning methods. The end result was a beautiful quart jar of apple pie filling! For more information about safe canning methods, contact Kim at 828-389-6305 or kvterrel@ncsu.edu.
