The results are in! The winners of the 2024 Currituck County Holiday Ornament Contest were revealed at the annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Parade on Friday night. This year’s theme, “Christmas Around the World,” challenged participants to blend diverse holiday traditions with Currituck’s own cherished symbols and traditions in their ornament designs.

The winners, selected from a pool of talented entrants, are:

  • First Place: Eli B. with “The Perfect Little Christmas Barn” 

  • Second Place: Kinsley P. with “Santa Around the World”

  • Third Place: Noah B. with “From Trees to Languages”

  • Honorable Mentions:

    • Emma H. with “Best of the Beach”

    • Bryce E. with “Christmas in Currituck”

    • Emerald C. with “Gingerbread Boy Present”

Each design captures the spirit of the season while showcasing the beauty of cultural exchange and community pride. Ornaments are available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the Currituck Extension Foundation at currituckef.printify.me.

Winter Production Meetings

Winter production meetings for area farmers have been planned. Dates are confirmed for the Corn Production Meeting (January 17), the Small Grains Expo (February 5), and the Soybean Production meeting (February 13). Mark your calendars now. More details regarding pesticide credits are coming soon.

Discover 4-H

The Discover 4-H series of workshops is an engaging program designed to introduce youth to the wide range of opportunities available through 4-H.  Open to youth ages 5-7 and 8-10,  this program allows for creative  knowledge and skill development  in a supportive and fun environment. Join us each month as we "Learn by Doing" and explore a variety of topics.
