Volunteer Opportunity

We are heading to the 2025 Volunteer Leaders Conference
Come Join Us Jan. 31- Feb. 2 in Greensboro, NC

Scholarships available for Macon County Volunteers
This is a great opportunity to see what 4-H looks like across the state and to get new ideas for the coming year.

Club Corner
Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club
Thank you volunteers for a great Christmas Pizza party in December.  The club also raised over $500 at Cowee Christmas by providing people the opportunity to take Christmas pictures with their goats.  Very cleaver!!  They will use their procedes to travel to interesting goat field trips and to support their favorite charities.

This month our club will look through the microscope to find and learn about parasites.  Meeting date: Tuesday January 14th at 6:00pm - Cooperative Extension Office

Macon Archers
We have moved inside for the winter.  This month we will shoot on January 9, 16 23 and 30th.  1st year archers meet at 5:00 and more advanced archers meet at 6:00.  Our indoor range is at the Macon County Fairgrounds.  Remember there is no restroom and to bundle up.  It's cold...inside too.  We have a fantastic coaching team of Frank Pace, Cory Merritt, Ryan McElroy and Ryan Odegaard to help you.

Coach Cory wrote a grant for amazing new equipment - come try out our new recurve bows.

Macon Sharp Shooters

We have moved inside and are shooting air rifles in the conference room of the Cooperative Extension Office.  This month we will shoot on January 20th and 27th at 5:30.  Please let Coach John, Coach Cory or Tammara know if you are interested in shooting air rifles this winter.  This group is for ages 9-18.
Budding Chefs and Top Chefs

In December, we had our annual Gingerbread House decorating contest.  It was great fun and lots of creative sugar plum fairies working hard on their creations.

This month we will start a nutrition series with Kaiya Pickens, our nutrition educator.  This series will focus on the food groups, fun activities to get us moving and (of course) great recipes that we can make ourselves at home.

In January, all chefs will meet on Tuesday January 14th at 3:45.  For ages 5 and up.

Sassy Stitchers
Our Stitchers made some beautiful items this year for Christmas decorations and gifts.  Holidays are for the creative and crafty.  This group jumped into crafty action.  In January, the beginners will meet on January 9th and 16th at 3:45pm and the advanced will meet on January 23rd and 30th, also at 3:45pm
Macon 4-H Beekeepers
We finished up our year by making beeswax candles and beeswax luminaries.  This has been a great group that has learned so much about bees, how colonies work and honey production.  Thank you to all of those that bought honey from our club and supported us.  The 2025 group will start in February.  Please let Tammara know if you would like to join or need more information.
