Lake James Clean Up Spring 2025


N.C. Cooperative Extension-McDowell County Center’s Keep McDowell Beautiful program will be coordinating the annual Lake James clean up on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers with boats, canoes, and paddling kayaks will be needed to help. Volunteers are also needed to help unload boats full of trash.

McDowell 4-H Young Guns Win at NCWRC Hunter Education Tournament

On Saturday March 15, McDowell 4-H joined 16 teams from the area at the annual District 8 NC Wildlife Hunter Education Skills Tournament held at Catawba Valley Wildlife Club in Vale. Teams compete in Archery, Rifle, Shotgun and Hunter Skills.
