4-H Outdoor Cookery Workshop |
Does your child like to cook? Join us for a fun, FREE, hands-on workshop to learn about the 4-H Outdoor Cookery program! At this workshop, families will learn about kitchen and grilling safety, grilling methods, knife skills and more while preparing your own beef kabobs!
Participants will learn the basics of the 4-H Outdoor Cookery competition and how to get involved in the 2025 competition in May and June!

May Exploring 4-H Club Meeting |
Join us for our last Exploring 4-H Club Meeting before summer break on Thursday, May 8th at 4:00 p.m. at the Buncombe County Extension Office.
We will be learning all about ecosystems and food webs as we dissect owl pellets! This will be an exciting and hands-on meeting you don’t want to miss!
The Exploring 4-H Club will not meet during the months of June July and August. Open to 4-H members ages 5-18. |

Gary Stamey Junior Beef Scholarship |
The Gary Stamey Junior Beef Scholarship was established in 2014 to honor the memory of Gary Stamey. The $500 scholarship is awarded to qualifying applicants who live in Western North Carolina and have participated in any 3 Junior Beef Shows prior to their application. AIRE Competition to Win National Trips! |
Do you want to win trips to National 4-H Events? If so, the NC 4-H AIRE Program is your ticket! AIRE (Application, Resume, Interview, and Essay) is the process used to select youth to attend National
4-H Trip: National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference, and National Leadership Conference. Youth ages 14 –18 are eligible to participate in this program.
What is AIRE?
Youth participate in this program by completing the four (4) AIRE candidate packet components: Application, Interview, Resume & Essay. All candidates submitting a complete packet will be invited to participate in the State-

4-H Presentations are a huge part of North Carolina 4-H. It is one of the most successful ways to help a young person learn public speaking skills. It focuses on 4-H members teaching others what they know about a particular project/subject matter of their choice!
4-Hers who do a presentation develop self-confidence, the ability to speak in front of an audience, and the ability to think ahead.

Buncombe County 4-H is currently seeking passionate adult volunteers to assist in implementing the following 4-H programs: STEM & Electricity, Cooking and Sewing classes. The time commitment is flexible with your schedule and you will be making a lasting positive impact on kids in your community!
Volunteers are the key to success in the Buncombe County 4-H program. Whether you’re interested in starting a club and becoming a club leader or just have a few hours to invest, we have challenging and fun jobs for adults who want to make a difference in the lives of Buncombe County youth!
