You’re Invited: Heart and Hands Community Picnic |
Thursday, June 12 at 6pm
Start your summer with purpose! Bring the family for a free community picnic at Green Road Community Library—enjoy light bites, hands-on activities, and a chance to support the fight against hunger and homelessness. In support of The Women’s Center of Wake County, donations will be collected throughout June at the library. If you’re able, please bring canned meals or new adult-sized underwear to the event—these items will go directly to those in need. This event is led by the 4-H Liberation Out Loud (LOL) Club and is part of the Wake County Food Security and Libraries Hunger Awareness initiative. |

SPOTLIGHT ON SUCCESS! |

Congratulations, Claire!
Big shoutout to 4-H'er Claire Eveson, a dedicated Teen Council member, TEDxYouth@ChavisWay speaker, and planner for the 4th Annual Youth Food Security Summit. Claire has worn many hats in our 4-H community and shown outstanding leadership every step of the way.
She recently completed a competitive research externship with the NC State Plant Sciences Initiative, where she studied a fungus that causes rice blast disease in India. In April, she presented her findings at the NC Youth Institute and was selected as one of five North Carolina delegates to attend the 2025 World Food Prize Global Youth Institute.
Claire turned her passion into purpose, deepening her interest in plant sciences while gaining hands-on experience in real-world research and collaboration. Read more about her journey and the program in this NC State article. |
