4-H Summer Fun - Activities

It is time for summer fun.  Here are some June activities in addition to our regular club meetings. Please join us to explore and learn about the world around us.  Look at the description of each of these activities and then call us to sign up.

Presentation Practice Blocks
District Activity Day is on Saturday June 21st and we need to practice our presentations.  Please call for one of the following time slots:
June 5th - 3pm        June 6th - 3pm
June 9th - 9 am         June 9th - 3pm     June 9th - 5:30pm

June 10th - 5:30pm     June 11th - 9 am

Joyce Kilmer Hike

Thursday June 12th
Ages 5-18
First 10 to sign up can ride county van


We live in the most beautiful forested area.  Let's go explore the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest.  This is an old growth mountain forest that is truly a treasure for our area.

Beyond Ready Teen Skills

Teamwork and leadership skills are the key to our success in all types of scholarships, careers, applications and civic interactions.  Over this two day camp, teens will learn their personality type, personal introduction skills, working in teams, interview skills, resume writing and how to be a leader in the areas that interests them.  Lunch is provided each day and 4-Hers will come away with their own personal plan to prep for how to be successful in upcoming life adventure.

Monday and Tuesday June 23rd and 24th from 10:00am - 4:00PM
Cost: $30.00
For Ages: 13 - 18
12 Person Limit

Club Corner
Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club

The MMG will meet on Tuesday June 10th.  Please watch your Facebook group for time and activity details.
Macon Archers

Thank you to all of our families and volunteers that helped us get brush and tree debris off the range.  Also, thanks to Belivers Archery for bringing us 3-D targets.  It's not everyday that you get to shoot arrows at a full sized Velociraptor.  We will meet at the 4-H Archery Range on Thursday June 5th,12th, 19th, and 2th.  We have a new time frame - all skill levels are shooting together and families are welcome to arrive between 5 - 5:30.  We will shoot until 6:30pm.  Call if you need a new shooter orientation time.
Macon Sharp Shooters

We will shoot two times this month.  Our meeting dates will be on Saturday June 7 at the Sheriffs range to shoot rifle.  We will meet at 10am.  We will travel to Jackson County on June 14th to shoot shotgun and clays with the Jackson County team.  We will meet at their range at 9:00am.  The address is 44 Oak Hill Drive Sylva, NC.  Please call if you need more information.

Budding Chefs and Top Chefs

Budding Chefs and Top Chefs are combining efforts this month and will meet on Tuesday June 10th at 3:45pm to explore our favorite early summer fruit, strawberries.  We will make a fun strawberry dish that you will be able to make for your friends and family all summer.
Sassy Stitchers

Sassy Stitchers will be off for the summer -
we are now taking names for those that are interested in joining the beginners class in August.  The beginners group will run from August 2025 through May of 2026 and meet the first two Thursdays of each month from 3:45 - 6:00.  This is a great opportunity to learn all about sewing machines, the technical part of joining fabrics together and the art of making beautiful arts and crafts.  Please call Tammara for more information or to get your name on the list to start in August.
Macon 4-H Beekeepers

In May,  we pulled our first few supers of honey off the
4-H hives.  This month we will meet on Wednesday June 11th and Wednesday June 25th.  We will meet inside to extract honey or outside to work with our bees depending on the weather.  Watch your text to see where we will meet.

4-H Market Lamb Club

Lamb families - are you ready?   Our first clinic will be on Thursday June 5th and then again on June19th.  Families receiving lambs, please meet at the fairgrounds at 6:00pm on June 5th to receive your lamb.

Fluffy Feathers 4-H Club

The group will be attending the Jefferson Serama Poultry show on June 6&7.  Special classes for junior exhibitors for hands on coaching an table top presentation will be included.  We will also meet on June 19 for tips on fermenting grain and feed for poultry. Watch Facebook for updates.

4-H Livestock Judging

The livestock judging team will be meeting for 1/2 day farm visits every Monday in June from 1:00 - 5:00pm.  Please call Joe for any questions.  In May, the judging team visited farms and the meat case at Ingles to learn about different cuts.
