Mark your calendars! The 79th Annual McDowell Junior Livestock Show is set for August 1 & 2, and we’re excited to once again highlight the hard work and dedication of our local youth in agriculture. Held right here in McDowell County, this event brings together families, students, and community members to celebrate the importance of livestock, responsibility, and rural traditions.
Join us on July 17 for the Annual Mountain Research Station Field Day! Registration will begin at 1:30 pm. Pesticide credits will be available & dinner will be provided courtesy of Carolina Farm Credit and NC Farm Bureau!
Join us on August 14 for the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center's Annual Mountain Horticultural Field Day. There will be tours of Tomatoes, Apples, & Specialty/Alternative Research Crops. This is a great learning opportunity.

McDowell Rotary Small Grants Donates to McDowell Cooperative Extension
In June, the Marion Rotary Club awarded McDowell 4-H and McDowell Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program funds to enhance participants learning experiences. Thank you Marion Rotary Club!
We are excited to announce that Adeline Thomas of McDowell 4-H has received the McDowell 4-H college scholarship for 2025. This is a $500 scholarship to help towards college expenses. Congratulations & good luck!
