ECA Goes to Illinois

Two Person County ECA members will be traveling to Springfield, Illinois to attend the National Volunteer Outreach Network (NVON) Conference Tuesday - Thursday, July 8-10. One of our ECA members, Dorothy Wagstaff, is serving as the NC ECA State President and will be setting up a booth showcasing North Carolina. 

Meals Ready When You Are

Feel like you are just way too busy to cook? Learn batch-cooking freezer meal tips and hacks. Join us on Tuesday, July 15 at 10:00am (ET) on a Virtual Zoom workshop, part of our monthly Extension at Home Series. This workshop is free to attend and even if you cannot attend Live, register and we will email you the recorded webinar and handouts from the workshop presenter. Register now at go.ncsu.edu/freezer

Learn about Preserving Food

Interested in learning the basics about food preservation and want to know how you can get started? We will have a "Canning Basics" workshop on food preservation techniques such as canning, freezing, dehydrating and the food safety that goes along with it. Join us on Tuesday, July 15 at 7:00pm at the Mountain Creek Community Building at 1717 Mountain Creek Rd. in Oxford for this free workshop.


Rural Diabetes Study

Take part in the Rural Diabetes Study hosted by the Granville Vance Public Health Department. They are conducting small group conversations to learn more about adults who are living with diabetes. The Granville County group discussion will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at 5:30pm - 7:00pm at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. Their goal is to improve diabetes services in Granville & Vance County! Scan QR code to RSVP.

Be Prepared!!

It is important to plan for weather-related emergencies before they happen to help your family cope during and after the disaster. This free Disaster Preparedness workshop on Friday, July 18 at 10:45am, at the Granville County Senior Center at 107 Lanier Street, will cover easy free or low-cost ways to prepare for this and other weather-related emergencies and help you get started on your disaster checklist today.

Extension At Home Series

Extension At Home is a series of virtual workshops that will be held at 10:00 a.m. (EST) on the third Tuesday of each month in 2025, brought to you by a collaboration of Cooperative Extension Agents. Our next 6-month series has been chosen and here are the topics and dates so you can go ahead and register for any or all of the workshops now at go.ncsu.edu/extensionathome

Save the Date

Our 2025 Aging with Gusto Conference in Person County is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and it will be FREE again this year. We hope everyone can join us to celebrate as we learn how to "Flip the Script on Aging”, with a focus on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. Together we can promote healthy aging, increase community involvement for older adults, and tackle important issues like the prevention of elder abuse. 

ECA Artisan Market

The Person County Extension Community Association (ECA) is hosting an Artisan Market on Saturday, September 20 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Vendor spots will be available for $50. All proceeds will go to the ECA program to help provide community service, education, and leadership programs in the community. Vendor spots don't go on sale until the middle of July but go ahead and save the date in your calendar.
