4-H Mini Garden Judging

Did your child participate in the 4-H Mini Garden Project and would like to have their garden judged?? If so, they can win prizes for their work!  Garden Judging will be July 18th.

Are you looking for something educational, but fun for your young one this summer??

The 2025 Alexander County 4-H Summer Opportunities has something for all ages and interests.  If you receive our newsletter each month you have already received an email regarding summer programming.  In case you did not receive, please go to the following link for all information.  


ALL 4-H members and volunteers MUST be enrolled in 4-H Online to participate in any programs or clubs that are provided by Alexander County 4-H.

If you have any questions regarding enrollment or need help with enrollment please contact DJ Salyer at 828-632-3125.  Again, no child or volunteer can participate in 4-H events without being enrolled.
Alexander 4-H Summer Opportunities Recap
Eastern 4-H Center Camp

Alexander County youth had an awesome week of 4-H overnight camp on Bull's Bay in Columbia, NC.  Campers were able to experience all different activities and meet new friends.  


The following camps still have space available:
  • STEM Days
  • Discovery Days
  • Jr. Master Gardener Camp
  • 4-H20

Alexander 4-H has been very busy with summer programming.  We kicked summer off with some fun cooking camps. The first week we held BBQ Bootcamp for 9-14 year olds and the second week we had 5-8 year olds in Snack Attack. .  Snack Attack combined food snacks and books to reinforce the importance of reading while developing lasting life skills.  We then turned from the kitchen and took another group of young participants to Cloverbud Discover Camp.  This group visited Rendezvous Mountain, Zootastic Park , Catawba Science Center and .  Check out some of the pictures from these awesome camps!!

The following clubs will not meet again until August or September:

Southern Grace 4-H Club
Shockers 4-H Club
Whisk It Up 4-H Club

Alexander County 4-H Garden Club meets 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  Location:  Alexander County Service Center

Alexander 4-H Garden Club was not able to meet in June.  Their next meeting is July 10th at 5:30 p.m.

National Days in July:

  • July 8th-National Cow Appreciation Day
  • July 17th-National Hot Dog Day
  • July 29th-National Chicken Wing Day
Alexander County offices will be closed Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
