VLA


VLA's next meeting will be October 7th at 6:00 pm at the Guilford County Office. Any adults who wish to support 4-H are welcome to attend.

VLA Fall Leader's Day

The NCD VLA will be hosting their Fall Leader's Day on November 8th from 9am until 3pm. Breakfast and lunch are included. This event is a wonderful opportunity for volunteers to receive training and meet adult volunteers from other counties. All 4-H volunteers are encouraged to attend this FREE event.

Hoofprints in the City 4-H Day Camp
Monday, November 3rd | 8:30am - 2:30pm
Join us in exploring the world of horses! Youth will get to interact and learn about horse behavior, care, and safety. We'll learn in the classroom as well as hands-on with horses. This program does NOT involve riding.

N.C. 4-H Teen L.E.A.D.S.
Application Due October 31st
NC A&T Cooperative Extension’s “4-H Teen L.E.A.D.S.” program is for 8th–11th graders interested in leadership, STEM, and public speaking. Commitment includes monthly meetings Nov 2025–Sept 2026, reaching 50 youth, and quarterly reports. Teens may attend the National 4-H Ignite Summit in DC. Guilford County will accept only two participants. Application deadline Oct 31 at 5 pm. Contact Meredith Kreeger via phone (336-641-2445) or email.

North Central District 4-H Poultry Show
Registration Due December 12th
This program is open to all 4-H'ers aged 5-18 as of January 1, 2026. Youth receive 5 chicks in February and raise them to show on June 16th. There will be a Q&A webinar on Thursday, October 30th at 6:30pm.

Community Connections Open House

Join us for our 2025 Community Connections at the NC Cooperative Extension Guilford County Center! We invite you to explore the resources and intersections of our programming featuring local agriculture, horticulture, 4-H, community & school gardens, family & consumer sciences, food security, and digital literacy. Join us for interactive workshops, conversations with Extension staff, public and non-profit vendor tables, and more!

Gardening Across Generations
Family Gardening Classes
In these gardening classes designed for families to take together, families will explore various gardening topics through lessons, hands-on activities, and take home a special *project from each class to keep growing their skills together! More information can be found on our website.
Volunteer Hours Available for Teens

Join us for a monthly community service project at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch. We will meet the 2nd Thursday of every month September through December from 4:30pm until 5:30pm. Registration not required. For more information or questions, contact Meredith.
Flyer for the Teen Advisory Group (TAG) 2025–2026 at Central Library. The flyer highlights opportunities for teens to create book displays and take-and-make craft kits, offer feedback on teen collections and services, and design and implement library programs. It notes that teens can earn Service-Learning hours by participating. Meetings are every other Thursday from 5:30–7:00 pm in the Tannenbaum Room at Central Library, 219 N Church St. Kickoff is September 11. Contact number: 336-373-7878.
