So Much Fun at the Fair

Thank you for everyone that helped with the Macon County Fair - those that helped with the 4-H booth, with shows, sponsored ribbons and trophies and donated their time to make this year's fair happen.  It was such a fun week. Check out the Macon County Cooperative Extension Facebook page. There are lots of fun pictures of the week and of our hard working volunteers, club leaders and of course livestock.

4-H Honey for Sale
This is the 5th year that Macon County 4-H Beekeepers has worked with Katie Wall and mentors from the Macon County Beekeepers.  The honey that they have extracted is ready to  sell as a fundraiser for a new hive!  We have multiple sizes in glass and plastic.  Please come by the Cooperative Extension Office or talk to one of your friends in the Beekeepers to get your honey for fall or holiday gifts.   Please email Tammara (tammara_cole@ncsu.edu) if you would like to reserve honey for your family or you would like to get more information about the 2026 group.

Club Corner
Macon Mountain Goats 4-H Club

Congratulations to everyone that participated in the Mountain State Fair and the Macon County Fair

The Macon Mountain Goats will get together at Ms. Cindy's farm on Tuesday October 14th to plan for the Cowee Christmas day and to put together kidding kit essentials.  The upcoming kidding season is coming quickly!!
Macon 4-H Market Lamb Club

Congratulations to everyone that participated in the Macon County Fair.  We had some wonderful costumes and wonderful competition throughout the fair week.  We also had a great group compete at the Haywood County Fair.

Please wish us luck as we head to the NC State Fair in Raleigh on Monday October 20th.
Macon Archers
Macon Archers will meet all through October on Thursdays from 5:00 - 6:00   We will take the month of November off and start back inside in December.  Wish our team luck as we go to State Competition on Saturday October 4th in Ellerbe, NC at Millstone 4-H Camp.
Macon Sharp Shooters

Good luck to our rifle shooters on Saturday October 4th.  They will compete at the State Tournament at Millstone 4-H Camp.  Tammara will send out an email with October shooting dates to our Sharp Shooters next week.
Top Chefs/Budding Chefs


Autumn cooking is the best.  This month we will be making Pumpkin bread with the Downs and Morales families.  We will also  talk about different types of ornamental vs. cooking pumpkins.  We will meet on Tuesday October 14th at 3:45 as one group.


Macon 4-H Beekeepers

We will meet this month on Wednesday October 8th and 22nd to work with wax, honey and to make holiday presents with wax.

If you are interested in a beekeeping project for 2026, please let Tammara know.  We are starting to put our new year's group together.  To participate you need an adult helper that can stay with you for meetings 2 times per month.  Our club will provide you with all the tools and protective gear you need.

Please stop by and buy a jar of our club honey for $15.  They make great Christmas gifts.

Sassy Stitchers

Our Stitchers are the busiest 4-Hers you can find... This month beginners will make  all decorations. Advanced sewers are beginning to sew clothing from a pattern.  This is super advanced, highly technical work.
