The Oxford Armory Farmers Market was a huge success. Thank you to our over 8,000 visitors that made our first year an incredible year. We want to thank our sponsors: Winston International Maintenance, GraphX Signs, Currin and Dutra, LLC, The City of Oxford, Farm Bureau of Granville County, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC, The Triangle North Healthcare Foundation, The Kerr Tar Council of Government Division of Aging, and Holden, Moss, Knott, and Company. The market season finale was so much fun with Loos Change performing and the students from the Vance-Granville Culinary Arts School preparing pumpkin inspired masterpieces using locally sourced vegetables,
proteins and of course pumpkins. A local Girl Scout troop came out to learn about sustainable agriculture and sustainable foods systems. They enjoyed meeting local farmers and leaders in local government. We were blessed with a group of local chefs who judged the competition. Special thanks to Chef Marc Cavanaugh, Chef Kyle Wilkerson, Chef Keith Weiss, Chef Lamar, James Dutra, and Karen McGhee for judging. The winners took home prizes donated by local businesses with special prizes donated by Sassafras Fork Farm and the Granville County Beekeepers Association. We will see you all again in May of 2026!

On October 29, ACIM, The Food Bank of Eastern North Carolina, Granville County United Way and the Flat River Baptist Association held a federal employee food distribution at FCC Butner. Shelf stable goods such as beans, rice, spaghetti sauce, canned
soups and snack bags were distributed along with proteins, vegetables, and fruits. It was a wonderful event with a spirit of volunteerism and community. We are so appreciative of the partnerships we have with other local agencies.

Butner Performance Tested Bull Sale
Once again, the bulls from the Butner Bull Test will be sold. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a herd bull. These bulls have been on test for 84 days to standardize environmental conditions and feed and to evaluate post weaning performance. Additionally, all bulls for sale have successfully completed a breeding soundness exam and have been screened for physical soundness and an acceptable disposition. The sale will be on Saturday, December 13. 2025, at 12 noon at the Granville County Livestock Arena. The street address is 4200 Cannady Mill Rd. Oxford, NC. Right now, the number of bulls to be sold is around 44, with the majority of them being Angus. There could be a couple of SimAngus and a few Santa Gertrudis.
