The N.C. Cooperative Extension of McDowell County, in cooperation with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program, a NON-Regulatory and Cost-Free program, will be offering a Pesticide Collection Day for residents in McDowell County. Nearly all pesticide products will be accepted at this amnesty collection event, including banned and outdated pesticides.

With the Holiday season upon us, we are looking to hold a food drive for our local Foothills Food Hub. We are collecting unexpired canned goods, rice, pasta, dry beans and any other sorts of food you may want to share with people in our community.
We are excited once again to partner with McDowell Access to Care and Health to offer our Share the Warmth Coat Drive. As the temperature drops, the need rises and there are many in our community that could use some resources.
Calling all Teen 4-Hers!!! We are starting a 4-H Teen Club in McDowell. This group will meet monthly at the 4-H Office in Marion. We will focus on community service, leadership and adventure. This group will also help create and coordinate county programs.
McDowell 4-H Young Guns Compete at State Tournament
On October 4, eight McDowell 4-Hers joined over 400 4-Hers from all over NC at the annual 4-H State Shooting Sports Tournament in Ellerbe. 4-Hers qualified for this tournament at 3 regionals held across the state in August.
NC State University and N.C. A&T State University work in tandem, along with federal, state and local governments, to form a strategic partnership called N.C. Cooperative Extension.
